A few years ago I used to think that the 360 was the pinnacle of gaming technology, I used to think that the pad was the best way to play, and I thought that the PC was only for games like World of Warcraft, and FPS games on a PC were a joke and inferior to their console counterparts. Around January last year I purchased a £400 gaming PC (No Monitor or Windows needed), and I only played on it for games such as World of Warcraft, now however I play most of my games on the PC. Today I went back onto my Xbox, and no matter how hard I tried I just found that the pad was so difficult and awkward to control compared to a keyboard and mouse, I just don't see how I played a console. I just don't see any benefits of buying a game for the console any more, they're more expensive, they're harder to control, no mod support, less frequent updates, and they just look plainly worse in comparison. I used to love my 360, but now I neglect it because now its just simply bad. I looked on Wikipedia a few minutes ago and saw that the 360 was released on the 22nd of November 2005, how the hell is it still being supported, its just old! The sooner we move onto a new generation, the better, I just don't see how a 7 year old piece of hardware is acceptable in this day and age.

I can't say if an xbox or PC is better. But I can tell you my experience about how the console market greatly effects the PC market. I built my current PC for about 500 bucks a couple years after the Xbox 360 came out.

Since we have had such a long console generation this time around developers are developing to the limits of the 360. So just about anything that you play these days you can play just fine on a PC so long as you built it after the 360 came out and you have a gaming video card in it and not like an integrated card or something terrible like that.

I will likely buy a new computer after the next Xbox comes out, when ever that is and what ever that is.

Typically what I notice is when ever a new generation comes out, everything is about the consoles and everyone says 'ohhh PC gaming is dying blah blah blah' and then towards the end of the console generation PC has 'risen' again and everyone is talking about how great it is.

My PC's case is pretty lame...

I can run Shogun 2: Total War while spectating Dota 2 matches!

I know what you mean man. The front of my PC glows blue while my CPU fan has red LEDs. It looks awesome, but damn it, trying to sleep while it hums along in the corner is impossible.

I guess I could open it and disassemble the front fan to turn off the lights somehow, but its to much work.
I use to call my old PC Britney Spears, because it was cheap white and plastic.

Heh I can't sleep if my PC is off, or if the power goes off during the night I wake up because I can no longer hear the soft humming of it.

I have both a gaming PC and an X-Box 360. Between the two, I would much rather use the PC for gaming.

The games are cheaper, I can typically get better graphics, I have modding support, I don't have to pay extra to play the multiplayer, I get better precision and more control options with keyboard/mouse, Steam sales for the win, and the PC itself has far more non-gaming utility.

These days I use my X-Box 360 for exclusives (which is rare; I can't even remember the last one)... and that's about it. I used to use it as a makeshift DVD player, but I bought a new TV recently that came with a free Blu-Ray player through a store promotion... so I no longer use the X-Box for movies.

There's also the issue that the X-Box 360 seems to be of poor construction. I got it back in December of 2005 and it's had problems from the get-go. The original system I bought had to be returned because of a defective disk reader. The second system, the replacement, came with a defective controller. Since then I've also had three red rings, two of which happened immediately after downloading official updates.

PC can run games with better graphics and better FPS, and with standard PC equipment, is better for certain genres.
Everything else is simply opinion to me.

Nah. 360 is near the end of its lifespan. Everyone is going to say PC is better, except one guy who is going to say he likes sitting on the sofa while gaming.

Well, you can't bring exclusives in because with a PC, and a little know how and where, you can get ANY game on the 360... Well any console really, but the effort to try and get Wii games working just isn't worth it.

I can't say which is better, that is purely a persons opinion.

All I can say is my PC's specs kick the piss out of a 360.

The problem we have at the moment, for those of us that do game on PC's, is consoles are holding us back. Some of us have PC's we've constantly upgraded for what seems like no reason at all. Consoles have now been left far behind.

Which has more games on it that you want to play?

Okay, got that locked in? Excellent. There's the answer of which of the two is better.

It may seem just too simple, but it really is. If what you're actually talking about is playing games and not trying to measure things by some extra at most partially related metric, that is all that matters. The games.

I play most of my PC games with an Xbox controller. PC is the best system for people who like controllers, because with a PC you can always customize the controls more deeply.

Example: in Deus Ex : HR, Just Cause 2, and many other games there is no way to remap the buttons on the Xbox, but with a PC you can use a third party program to customize the buttons.

And for that reason I should probably add to my original statement here that I don't actually have anything particularly against the X-Box 360. The system had its flaws, certainly, but I don't regret my purchase. It's just getting old, and its age is starting to show. It definitely had a good run, though.

I'll always have fond memories of playing split-screen deathmatch and co-op with my friends and university roommates. PC may be just as capable when it comes to multiplayer, but it loses something special when you can't physically punch someone in the shoulder for using cheap tactics.

If that were true, why is it still doing so well? Its really unfortunate that the majority of this forum are PC fanboys. It shows.

OT: Most of your points are opinion/ plain untrue. The few facts you have i just dont care about (graffix and mods).

People are allowed to like different things you know. I dont see the need for this thread. Just looks like somebody trying to start a flame war here.

I can't truthfully say, since I've never played an Xbox. However, I have played a lot of my PS2 and I simply enjoy a PC so much more than that. I would think it would be similar for most (all?) other consoles as well. I just feel so limited with a controller, really.

Out of curiosity, what mods have you played?

Well, since i don really use my pc for gaming. Not many. A little Counter strike i guess. A few things that add extra missions. I have looked at a few ones that many consider "good mods". But i just see them as little extra's. The bigger ones "more like full games" dont really do anything that regular games can't. So i just dont see the need. I'm happy with just the basic games.

I own both systems you great girl's blouse, I was making an offhand joke. Someone is feeling sensitive about their aging 360.
