PC vs 360

I have both.

I mostly use my PC, but I also have to say that my Xbox is better for some things. For instance, I would rather play a Shooter on my Desktop, but all of my friends will no doubt buy the game on the XBox. Thus, I'd rather buy it on Xbox also to play with my friends.

I would rather play an RPG on my desktop, but I'd then have to deal with the installation, set up, and even then there's no guarantee that it'll run. With a console game, I can easily just pop it in and play.

I get PC gaming, but I prefer console gaming way more, I don't think Silent Hill 2 could feel anywhere as good on PC then with a controller in hand. Not to mention, I'm impressed 360 and PS3 have been doing so well for so long. Console gaming is just cheaper in the long run, especially if you go with a PS3, not having to pay for online and what not.
A solid gaming computer costs roughly how much? $700? Then you have to buy the games, and basic maintenance, and more upgrades, it seems more of a hassle.

A few years ago I used to think that the 360 was the pinnacle of gaming technology, I used to think that the pad was the best way to play, and I thought that the PC was only for games like World of Warcraft, and FPS games on a PC were a joke and inferior to their console counterparts. Around January last year I purchased a £400 gaming PC (No Monitor or Windows needed), and I only played on it for games such as World of Warcraft.

no offence but how could you have been that ignorant in the first place. PC games have had a large viarety of games for a very long time now (most console games are on pc). I personally prefer PC because I can use a laptop which is portable and Have a choice of gamepad or keyboard and mouse. However consoles are still quite good (yeah they're due for an upgrade), I have been using consoles since the PS1 and PC since around the same time, So I enjoy them both, most cases I prefer a keyboard and mouse (however racing games are better with a gamepad imo, but they can be used on PC). Whether you play on PC or console is no big deal, as long as you enjoy the game. Just make sure you don't make the same mistake with other mediums or things again (that is to say don't make blind assumptions). who knows maybe the next xbox may be the best thing ever.

Just remember everyone Pc games can use a controller too ( and with third party hardware some consoles can even use mouse and keyboard)

The PC to me is a gaming capsule from the early 90's. Have to say that trying beat something that is designed to do one thing really well is hard. Every game on the Pc that I liked came out years ago and I have not seen anything in awile that I wanted to play besides StarCraft 2. The Xbox and the PS3 have a controller which is the best way to play most games. Even an FPS feels better with a controller, than a mouse and keyboard. Very much depends on what you like to play. All the mods that come out for certain games just don't really add enough for me to buy them on the Pc. So far as graphics go, the PS3 does a damn fine job with most of the games that are on it.

Well, both let you play games, but one is more expensive and has a higher performance, more controller possibilities and therefore a slightly wider variety of what games you can play on it.

If you can afford it, I would recommend a PC purely because unless you play lots of party/motion games, the XBOX360 is a weaker console. Inferior graphics, weaker performance, less possible controllers etc.

Not quite true. A lot of PC games don't have gamepad control options (Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 1&2, The Witcher 1, Dragon Age 1&2, etc.) or crappy ones (Oblivion, Assassin's Creed I & II couldn't detect Left/Right trigger on a xbox controller, etc.) and xpadder isn't that good. It misses out on some of the subtleties of console control schemes like the cross-hairs snapping to an object when you're close enough or the way of navigating menus.

Nah. 360 is near the end of its lifespan. Everyone is going to say PC is better, except one guy who is going to say he likes sitting on the sofa while gaming.

I guess that's me then, my ass hurts on a PC chair.

Maybe if I had a better PC I'd game on it but I'm fine with console.

Ha, I'm not actually Welsh; it's just a little habit I got into was to alternate between the two.

OT: PC's are better because they are more flexible in terms of upgrades & a wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better long term investment.

That is not my intent at all, i am not trying to start a flame war, i am just sharing my experience from the transition from the 360 to PC.

Hmm, nothing against the 360 as a console, but it's exclusives don't interest me, and my PC has more of what I want to play. When I play consoles, I go for the PS3 or handhelds because the exclusives are quite different from what I get on PC.

The sooner we move onto a new generation, the better, I just don't see how a 7 year old piece of hardware is acceptable in this day and age.

1) it acceptable cause of the 360 fanboys that will defend it with crusader like furver, because ... >.> i donno really, the xbox has never had anything worth my time on it

2)take a good hard look and the bland crap we have now, and picture it slightly better looking, and you pretty much have the next console generation, that, and have fun paying for the games you already own again with the way the rumor mill is sounding

for FPS, RTS I think a PC is virtually unmatched in terms of controls, and 90% of the time in graphics, but for platformers, racing games, fighting games, the console seems to be a better seleciton.

thats the thing with pc.all the genres you mentioed know that mouse and keyboard are shit at them so they usualy have controller support.Best of both worlds.

Because I do most of my work on a computer, both professional and school oriented, I usually don't want to sit down at my computer to play games on top of that.

So it's not that I think PC gaming is worse, it just doesn't appeal to me because I think I spend enough time on the computer as it is. I don't need to add "the time I spend playing video games." to that list.

I'm glad to know you've seen the error of your ways but seriously? How did you even get that idea in your mind?

OT: Instead of a 360 I have a PS3 and PC, and I love them both. Certain games are better on certain platforms, and each has their benefits and drawbacks. FPSes are way easier with a mouse and keyboard and I can't understand anyone who deludes themselves into thinking otherwise. That can also apply to RTSes. JRPGs and hack'n'slashes are way more comfortable with a controller. You can play games on a TV with a controller with your PC, but that involves a lot of messing around and consoles are straightforward. Sure the PC may be shinier (read: have better graphics) but I never cared much for that.
