I used to love buying PCZone magazines back in the day but like most people, I stopped, due to the accessibility of the Internet. Heck, the last Issue I bought was Issue no.152 (anyone remember The Matrix Online and Star Wars: Republic Commando?), with the first being Issue no.107. I always get a glint of nostalgia whenever I decide to read 'em. ^_^

I'd be more worried if PC Powerplay disappeared. I love that magazine... Also, I'm sorry chaps.. but PC Gaming is dying out.
Have you looked at the PC gaming section in your local games retail outlet lately?
It's so small compared to the consoles sections, and it sickens me.
R.I.P PC...
I know, its just a few shelves and most likely is they hold a few PC games because some lazy employee forgot to throw them in the off sale basket.

PC gaming is massive, much larger than all three console market's combined. Didn't you two read the news article a few weeks ago where Activision stated that 95% (or some similarly huge figure) of their profit came from PC gaming? No that isn't sarcasm.

Internet stores and Steam have largely killed off PC in stores, which is a shame, but PC gaming is far from dieing. Right now it's the consoles looking a bit shaky, between the cookie cutter games, spiralling development budgets and ever increasing loss lead times. Not to mention their march towards DRM and user unfriendliness.

I was actually thinking of print media being on the down. In gaming circles not least because of sites like Escapist and Gametrailers, who do everything magazines can do but faster. Which is making print magazine sales shrink steadily but inexorably.

Shades of EGM eh?
Well, at least PC Zone ended with some dignity; EGM was bought out by some soulless corporation who fired all the writers, the reviewers, and bought them out solely to "purchase" the 1up.com userbase.

I found PC Gamer to be far superior to PC zone, but is still a sad day for such a long running publication. One of many closures, online is screwing prin media

PC Zone was one of the few magazines that had the balls to actually grade games as they saw them, rather than a stream of positive reviews for bad games. They will be missed.
