"Gyaaaaahhhhh!!!" Grim wailed as the beast under him sped through the void of space, making a dash for the green and blue ball in front of them. Grim held onto the shaggy fur for all he was worth.

"Stop being such a baby!" the mad stryfe he had gotten to command the animal called back to him.

"I wanna go home!" Brogan cried out. The warriors they had brought with them seemed to silently agree.

The journey had been hell for the sorry stryfe. The take off had been rough and bumpy as the whale climed through the air of Volk. It had calmed down once it had left the planet but then everything became terrifying as they were surrounded by an endless blackness, most of them too scared to look over the edge of their mount. Now things were back to being the loud kind of scary as they were pointed at the green ground below them and rapidly gaining on it. The traditionally earthbound stryfe were screaming their lungs out while the rider was laughing his head off.

"AAAAAaaaggghhhhhh!!!"

The air hit them smack in the face bringing tears to their eyes. This is it. This is how I die. Grim's mind was racing as only a scared mind can. I never even took a wife! The whale carried on towards the ground, swooping over villages and cities, oblivious to its passanger's regrets.

"OOOOoooohhhhhh HEEEEeeeeelllllll!!!"

Orchid and Laren glanced out of their hideout's window as a shout came from outside. To their surprise they saw a group of blue beings riding a starwhale that was barely scraping along the chimneys of Manor's houses, it seemed to be out of control.

"Divine brothers!" Laren exclaimed, "what are they?"

"No idea," Orchid replied, "maybe the Dues Filli sent them? Let's follow them, the supplies will be fine."

The cat and Changeling leapt down the stairs and threw themselves out into the street. It was clear which direction the starwhale had gone from where people were moving, already a crowd was materialising in a nearby square. The pair ran to the edge of the crowd and slotted themselves in neatly to avoid attention.

It took a moment for the collected stryfe to regain their senses, their landing had been far from smooth. Grim shook his head and blinked the moisture out of his eyes as he and his group dismounted. The rider patted his whale fondly and scruffed its fur. "Good girl."

"Mmmmwwwaaaooohhhhrrr!" The whale bellowed as it opened its mouth letting out a handful more stryfe warriors, all of them slick with saliva and badly shaken up.

"You lads alright?" Grimnir asked them. He was answered by one of his men falling off the whale, their heavy armour making a loud clatter against the ground. "I'll take that as a yes. He laughed on an adrenaline high.

"Uuuuuh Grim." Brogan pointed to the small crowd of strange things that had started gathering around them. A few of the sword bearers shifted in their armour and drew their weapons, standing up straight to show off their full height, even the shortest among them was a head taller than the biggest among the crowd and easily broader.

"Easy, easy." Grim calmed them, placing his flesh hand on one of their shoulders and hiding his metal one under his cloak. He made his way to the front of his group and waved to the crowd. Brogan tensed up as Grim put some distance between him and his guards.

The crowd of Rowan and Changelings closed in around the strange beings, pushing and shoving to get to the front of the ever-shrinking ring. Orchid hopped onto Laren's shoulder to get a clearer view.

"They must be more aliens," she whispered in her friend's ear, "perhaps the Lord Roe sent them to help us?"

"What if it's a coincidence?" Laren muttered back, trying hard to let anyone-else see he was conversing with a cat.

"It's worth a shot, they look strong," she replied, "they'll never get out alive if the city guards get to them first though,"

"This crowd has outlived it's usefulness," the Changeling nodded in reply, "I can deal with this." He reached into his pocket and brought out a Dues Filli made pistol, raising it in the air.

"BANG!"

Screams filled the air and the crowd evaporated in an instance, condensing around the shops and alleyways nearby to gaze from a safe distance. Without any further hesitation Orchid bounded forward to the one who looked most important.

"Come with me if you want to live," she drooled.

The stryfe collectively flinched when the sound went off and rallied to defend their leader. grim's hand reached for his bow slung across his back. Then the cat told them to follow it.

"The cat's talking."

"Why is the cat talking?"

"Are cats their leaders?" They all looked around dumbfounded. All accept for grimnir that was, this not being his first time meeting a magical animal. The situation had gone from bad to worse in a heartbeat, he had to make sure his lads were kept safe and if experience had taught him anything it was that you listened to the talking animal.

He didn't have time to think about the strange language it was using but could easily guess the gist of it from the cat's actions. "Follow that cat!" He yelled and set on its heel.

Orchid was somewhat perturbed that the aliens seemed to recognise what species she was but then again, they also spoke her language so maybe they also had cats wherever they came from? She banished the thoughts from her head however as she heard the whistles of the city guards approaching.

"Come on!" she yelled at the blue men and dashed across the street, into a darkened alleyway by a toy maker's shop. She hoped Laren would be following somewhere behind too but didn't have time to check, he'd have to find his own way out.

"This is bad Grim." Brogan warned him as the group crowded into a tight space between buildings. "And why are we listening to a damn cat!"

"Ssshhh!" Grimnir hushed the group. "We're on bad ground." He scooped up the cat so as to stop it from getting under foot. "Where now?" He said slowly so it could understand. who knew what the lesser spirits of this place were like?

"Left and along the backalley," Orchid replied with a hiss, she didn't enjoy being picked up but there wasn't time to argue in this situation. "When you see stone steps on the right leading up to the 'barber's lounge', go up those into the house. That'll throw them if we're fast enough."

"Come on!" Grimnir called as he bounded through the cramped stoneways. He couldn't understand half the words the cat used and held the small furry thing out in front of him, using it like some kind of dowsing rod that could lead him there. His group scrambled up the steps, keeping an eye out for anyone that might mean them harm. One of his lads, clad from neck to toe in dark full plate, was met at one of the door by a small pink thing who swung the door open into him.

The two yelped out in sheer surprise at seeing each other before the stryfe punched them in their little face, sprawling them out flat. "Get in!" Grim yelled.

Shrew crumpled onto the ground and rolled over into a crouching position. The Kinderven hissed at the intruders and bared a row of sharp teeth, his eyes taking on an animalistic glare.

"Wait Shrew, they're with me!" Orchid cried in alarm, waving her paws in front of the boy. He blinked at her and then shook his head, his bestial expression replaced by a sulking pout.

"Why did that thing hit me?" he whined.

"Why did you hit that thing?" Grim blustered.

"It spooked me!" The armored stryfe shouted. Soon the entire group was yelling over each other in a flurry of flustered arguing. In the end Grim had to assert himself and use his archon voice.

"Just get inside!" He ordered them and one of his lads slammed the door behind them. The stryfe seemed to breath a collective sigh of relief. After all, they were inside. No major acts of violence happened inside... they happened outside where there was room for them.

"So what now?" Grimnir asked, putting the cat down on the floor and hoping this would be the last time in his life he'd have to ask a talking animal for help or advice.

"We should be safe here," Orchid replied, glancing instinctively around the room, "My name is Golden Orchid and this here is Shrew," she added, gesturing at the young boy who lifted his cap in greeting.

Here was a chance to repeat his original idea of how he'd introduce himself, though a little more informal but beggars can't be choosers, much less beggars in a foriegn land.

"I am Grimnir Iron-Frost. This fellow is Brogan Hammerson, he motioned at the largest member of their company. "And these are there lads." He spread his flesh arm to the rest of the stryfe. "Shard-Fire, Kraggle, Hughne, Orme, Roegal, Shifting-Snow and Carven." He looked around. "Where's Carven?"

"Took off with the whale while you were talking to cats." Brogan grunted.

"You can talk blue man," Orchid interjected, "I've seen pink, brown, yellow, green and grey people but never anyone like your kind. Where did you come from? Do you work with the Dues Filli?"

"Eh?" Brogan cocked his head in confusion, the others looked at each other as if someone else might know the answer.

"We came from Volk." Grim said, weakly pointing upwards. "Past the stars. We didn't even know this place was here until a few days ago."

"Aye." Brogan backed his archon up while fidgetting uncomfortably in his armour, now that they were standing still and had time to take things in the heat of this place was starting to get to the stryfe.

As Grim was speaking Laren appeared from inside the house, breathing heavily.

"It's safe," he told Orchid. The cat nodded vaguely but didn't look away from Grim.

"Interesting,.." she muttered, "you're lucky you landed near us, this city is on the brink of war and I hate to think what'd happen if the authorities got to you first, their paranoia is eating them alive," she added with a chuckle, "thank the Lord Roe though, they haven't a clue where we are!"

"Roe?" Grimnir was quietly taken aback.

"Boss?" Brogan placed a concerned hand on his friend's shoulder.

Grimnir blinked himself back into this conversation. "so you're all about to fight?" He walked further into the building, inspecting his surroundings. "Is this your keep?"

"Any day now," Orchid replied as Grim inspected the cramped wooden house, coming across a stack of crates, "they keep the Ekiruru in chains and the rest of us hungry, whilst they eat soft bread and wear fine silks, the nobles that is. Let's just say they're in for a blast," she nodded towards the boxes.

That was a lot of words Grim didn't understand all at once. "uuuum alright. Looks like we chose a bad time to introduce ourselves." He began to fidget with the pendant round his neck, rubbing at the five pointed symbol.

Orchid noticed the pendant that Grim was wearing and bounced onto a nearby crate to get a closer look.

"How curious," she said, "your pendant looks almost identical to the symbol of my people the Rowan, the flower of Petal."

"The what of what?"

"You talking about that old knick-knack he made himself?" Roegal the stryfe butted in. "That spirit doesn't even have a name!"

Orchid decided that the aliens needed a short history lesson.

"About two thousand years ago, my people the Rowan were just one of many tribes. A young girl by the name of Petal was befriended by the god Roe and they formed a unique bond... that is, until she perished in an attack by a rival tribe. The Lord Roe lead us to victory and then when he realised what happened to his friend, in his grief he created a five-petaled white flower to place on her body. This became the symbol of the Rowan."

The cat climbed down from the crate and strode across the floor to a battered painting on the wall, depicting a pale young boy and a darker girl holding hands, surrounded by light.

"The Lord Roe descended into the underworld to find Petal and with the help of the Lord Zareth, she was raised to become one of the divine. To us she proves the eternal bond between god and mortal and the promise that death is not the end,"

"Sounds fancy." Brogan said.

"Petal..." Grimnir pondered to himself, holding the pendant up to the painting. "So that's their name, her name. Was this her plan all along?"

"The gods work in mysterious ways," Orchid shrugged, "if you're wondering why I'm a cat, well that was the result of a meeting between myself and the Lord Roe a few years back,"

"Would've thought he'd make you a fox. Still he's got a better sense of humour then our regular faces."

The other stryfe agreed.

"Yes, the legends do say he often appears as a fox..." Orchid replied, wondering how they would know this. "Say, the Lord Roe didn't send you himself did he?"

"Why would we have met your little pink fox lord?" One of the stryfe grumbled.

"Kaviken, she means Kaviken." Grimnir silenced him. "I crossed paths with the fox that calles himself Roe and God. Met more of them than anyone might have wanted." He said lowering his voice. "They call themselves by so many names though... I'm not sure who's who anymore but they came up just like they do in our carvings. The fox didn't send me though." He moved closer so as to hide the name from his lads. "It was Ormengand that pointed our way... I'm sorry." And he seemed genuinely saddened by the news.

"Ah..." Orchid nodded in understanding. In the following silence, Shrew took the opportunity to pipe up.

"Have you come to help us then sirs?" he asked the stryfe.

That was an awkward question to answer. "We just came to meet you." Grimnir shrugged. "We didn't even know what we'd find here."

"We could give them a hand." One of the stryfe said. "Plenty around who'd like the challenge."

"You kidding?" Brogan scoffed. "We're only just getting things settled on Volk, now you want to ask folk to go to another world and fight for people they aint never heard of?"

"He's got a point." Grim admitted. "You're the first people we've spoken to hear, a good commander doesn't go in so blind. I promised my folk less fighting."

"It's fine," Orchid interjected, giving Shrew a glare, "it's our war to fight and with the Lord Roe and his bride behind us, we cannot lose. Perhaps in the future our peoples could trade though, think that would be possible Laren?"

"I don't see why not," the Changeling replied, "I'm sure a good whalerider could find this world Volk fairly quickly,"

"Well there you go then!" Said Grim, trying to sound as successful as possible. This was kind of what he had come here to do. "If your own whales get the chance to come see us on Volk the stop by Gravengrad."

"Dress warm." brogan ordered the aliens.

Now the stryfe just had to get off this mad world.

* * * * *

It was a few days after he had gotten back from his travels and Grimnir was still racking his brains over what he had seen. One of the rooms he could claim as his own in the keep at the top of Gravengrad was covered in a layer of books and papers, all over them smothered in the rune text that was the stryfe written language. Half of it was about the world he had visited and theories about what he had heard there, the other half was all plans and strategies for what to do if those creatures ever came to Volk, for peace or war.

He had barely slept since getting back, what time wasn't spent writing was spent mediating the spats between kalds as Grim, and those that helped him, tried to keep the plates they called a kingdom spinning. But right now he'd had enough. Grim took a walk outside into the stone garden. The lonely stryfe looked up at the towering images of the "Grand Spirits". The gods of his people... or what they wanted them to be. He found the featureless Petal. The Rowan things held her in such high regard, thought she was something they couldn't even dream of matching. But he had never heard of her, only knew her as the thing that fed him and his mother before he was old enough to remember and gave him the little white charm that was burned along with his arm. He clutched the stone replacement he'd made in his steel hand... it looked crude and harsh compared to the original.

"I know who you are now." He said to the stone monolith. "I'm not sure what we call you... not sure if we call you anything but hey, gotta start somewhere." He slumped against the sculpture in silence for a while. "It sucks, being in charge." He said breaking the quiet. "Everyone expects me to know all the answers, to fix everything. Don't tell anyone but I don't know. I don't know what to do. Its going okay so far but I've no idea if what I'm doing is right... if any of it's going to hold up." He sighed, breathing out a cloud of mist. "I told them they can't kill their babes anymore so that's nice. I mean they still kill a few but, y'know, cus their legs are all..." He waved at his legs. "Or their insides are all... bleh." He patted his lungs as if that could explain it all. "The ones that are dying anyway. Course then it gets dark and I can see all their faces and I have to tell them it was for the best... they never believe me." The wind picked up a little.

"I don't know." He sighed. "Think I'll find myself a partner, maybe a bunch. Make some stryfelings of my own then maybe I'll get it." He turned to look at the featureless form. "Don't suppose you know any nice girls do you?" The faceless spirit just stared back until Grimnir turned and walked away still muttering under his breath.

"I don't know."

Vantric: 20, 2

"And you're certain?" Vantric demanded, tearing through the fortress, Calath at his side trying to keep up.

"Yes sir." The High Speaker was uncertain what was going on. He had never seen the god of ambition so animated. That could be very good, or very bad, "Our tests have not been completed though, we don't know exactly what's going on. It could mean anything."

"That's why this changes everything." The god muttered, rounding a sharp corner, coming to a large stone door on which unknown symbols pulsed with an otherworldly light. Vantric paused for a moment, looking on the door to the Soul Vault and the small troop of devils milling about the great door immediately snapped to attention. It had been centuries since the deity had come to inspect the vault, entrusting it to the devils to divine the secrets of its precious trove. He ran his hand along the door, feeling the steady thrum of power locked within, then sent a message to his apprentices. I need you two here. Now.

*****

"Well, that was fun." Aryx said, stretching as she walked the fallen city. Like her companion, she hadn't chosen to make her form visible, walking among the armies and ruins of battle outside of mortal vision. Her companion remained silent, she had been like that on and off since they had arrived outside Minas Kei.

"No." Aleis said suddenly, shaking her head, "Not like that."

Aryx just stood there for a moment, staring at Aleis, "What was that?"

"I-what?" Aleis said, looking to the angel, "What was that?"

"Nothing, never mind." The grigori resumed her walk. What had Vantric been thinking to bring this mongrel into existence? Furthermore, what purpose did she serve? There was more to this 'Aleis' than first met the eye. Not least of which were her bouts of spontaneous responses to no one.

Aryx considered, once again, abandoning the other woman, but held off. Aleis might be scatter-brained, but she was deadly and determined. If she was to abandon the spider monster, it would have to be quickly and quietly, or at least once she was certain that the monster could be dealt with permanently. Aryx was considering following the two other gods who had left the field, she was curious as to what was going on, and ambushing the weakened deities would be a great opportunity to test her powers. Perhaps she could even persuade Aleis to join her, it was then that a message from Vantric. Good, now the little bug could be crushed by one of its betters.

"Good news," The goddess announced, "Your wish just came true."

Aleis perked up, "Vantric summoned you?"

Aryx nodded, "Yes, now you get to meet one of supreme power." And I get to rid myself of an annoying gnat. With that, the pair vanished.

*****

All three gods answered Vantric's summons at about the same time, arriving promptly. "Great." Isond said, seeing the black winged angel, "Hello Aryx. Who's your friend?"

"She's not my friend." Aryx said, turning to Vantric who had was approaching his apprentices, "She has business with Vantric."

"And who is this one to presume business with me?" Vantric said, locking his gaze on the new figure. This was unexpected, and possibly useful.

"Someone you cast aside." Aleis spat, flexing her claws. Vantric only looked slightly puzzled before piecing things together.

"Ah, Aleis the assassin. So, you survived after all. A bit altered, but overall quite intact. I had given you up for dead."

"Well I'm not!" Aleis shouted, taking a step toward the god, "I want you to reverse what you did to me!"

"And why do you want that?"

"You made me a monster! I want to return to normal!"

"I made you a goddess, Aleis." Vantric cut in, "You didn't quite know what you were, did you? Besides, I doubt that I could reverse what was done." Aleis looked slightly shocked and confused, Aryx looked somewhat angry, and Isond looked bored, idly leaning on a rifle he had taken from the battle. Vantric sighed, "I'm sorry you aren't satisfied with your end of the deal, but I have more important things to worry about."

"Yes, why are we here?" Isond asked.

Vantric smiled, gesturing to the great door at the back of the chamber, "For the last thousand years, I have been collecting souls using the devils. There is a certain power in them, something I was hoping to tap into and harness. The devils were looking into how their power could be best utilized, when something unexpected happened." Vantric let the sentence hang in the air with dramatic pause, "The souls all began pulling toward a single point."

"So what?" Isond asked, "They're souls, they're probably being drawn to Evermoor, where they belong."

"Not so, Master Isond." Calath said, appearing from behind Vantric, "These souls are different from those of the dead. Those spirits have no living vessel, and are brought to the realm of the dead fairly quickly. These spirits though, they are still alive, still with living vessels that they have been cut loose of, adrift in an ethereal ocean, if you will. They are being called to a location outside of this realm of existence."

No one could respond, they were taking in what they had just heard. "Something is calling these souls," Aryx began, "From outside the universe?"

"Yes, Lady Aryx."

"It's something powerful," Vantric added, pacing, "Something that is attracting the spiritual energies of these beings. Something with immense power, which we can harness."

"Something with the power to reach across existence has just tried to make contact with your collection of stolen souls, and you want to try to harness it?" Isond stood up, praying that Vantric wasn't this monumentally stupid.

"Of course. The only catch is, it's a one-way trip. We need the spirits' power to track the location, and to provide a stable passage to this realm beyond." The elder god replied, going to the vault. "Volunteers?"

"You'll need my help, of course." Aryx walked up to her god.

"Pass." Isond said, turning back.

"Too bad I already volunteered you." Vantric called, gesturing to the war god, "You owe me your life, Isond."

"Goddamn lousy deals with treacherous deities." Isond mumbled, going to Vantric's other side.

"I..." Aleis looked about for a moment. She had nowhere to go. The god who raised her was about to depart the universe, and with him went her only hope of returning to her mortal form. Still, if something went wrong...If they never came back... "I can't go."

Vantric nodded, "And I will respect your wishes. However, never forget, I made you. Your life belongs to me when I return." He turned to Calath, "And I will return. Someday."

"It was a pleasure to serve you, Lord Vantric." The devil bowed.

"Let's just get this over with." Isond grumbled.

"So eager to leave?" Aryx taunted.

"No, but if we're going, we might as well get this over with."

"Open the vault." Vantric ordered, the devils immediately responded to his orders, rushing about the room, and the door to the Soul Vault slowly began to open.

For a moment, a light brighter than anything Aleis had ever seen flooded the room as the three deities entered, then immediately went out, leaving only an empty room behind them.

Aleis stood there for a time. She felt truly alone, even with Erach in the back of her mind. Where would she go now? What would she do? Who would take a monstrous killer in? Erach then flooded her mind with a single image, a sword dripping with blood, etched with runic symbols. Aleis focused on the image for a moment before taking in its meaning. Perhaps there was one being who could help her...

M'endaxius - 14/30 AP, 0/2 MP

The god inspected its work. The sun shone through the woven fibres, and through it, M'endar could see the fires of war. It hissed, hadn't it offered mortals an eternity of bliss? Hadn't it acted in their interest? But still they fought. Just a symptom of the disease... Unhappiness plagued Evalon and the rest of the mortal universe. It grasped the spider silk cloak and felt the power inherent in the threads - entrapment. For the cloak was in fact a net that M'endar would cast on its enemies. Nevertheless, as the deity was spending time with spiders, all was unraveling. Bodies, from end to end, covered parts of Evalon. Yes, M'endar had given power to one filled with anger and hate, but he was just a pawn, a distraction and would come to see the cold truth in time. Truth... What was truth in an universe that could be bent to the will of powerful beings such as it? Just something as malleable as gold. So much for such a noble metal. And so, M'endar reached into the fabric of reality and bent the truth, filling it with illusion.

Words came out like a subtle sigh, "Peace..."

Akladai 7 AP

Lion woke up on the blood stained ground, he slowly stood up and wiped a bit of blood away. He knew what he had to do now, the corpses of his fellow leaders were still in their seats. He picked the black gun up from the ground, and walked out of the room. He walked to the stand which was prepared for their victory speech, the troops were waiting for him there. When it came into sight he pointed the gun at himself, without even flinching he pulled the trigger. The crimson beam pierced him, and blood spew from the wound. He quickly moved his hand over to the wound, and used fire magic to seal it shut for the most part.

He slowly walked towards the stand, the loss of blood and the pain making it harder to move. But he knew he had to go on... his lord needed him. He finally walked on to the stand, the soldiers watching with a mix of curiosity and fear. He took a stand in the middle of the stand, and began his speech. "Brothers and sisters! Today is the day we finally release our fellow Dues Filli from Melanthios and the other gods! But as you can see they did not want this to happen... they killed the other leaders and left me for death. My heart screams for revenge, who will join me in freeing the Dues Filli?!"

An ear deafening noise filled the hall, as the soldiers started shouting outrages and motivated. A smirk appeared on his face as he turned around, his lord would be pleased. He turned back and held his sword into the air "The new age begins now! March men, march to victory!" He turned around once more, and headed towards the war room. He would need to make a battle plan, the enemy was very strong but he knew he would win. Akladai watched from the shadow, a smile spreading across his face. "Let us see how you handle this father." He said as he stepped back into the darkness. He began to fall apart, he needed to find a better place to watch the battle from.

Maeglin 8A

Maeglin was enjoying a peaceful meal with his family, he saw that Melanthios was unhappy about Akladai's absences. He looked at the empty chair, it wasn't quite the same without his elder brother here. But he had no regrets, that traitor had no place here anymore. Suddenly the door was opened, and a guard who seemed out of breath ran in. "Emperor! They have taken the northern capital!" Maeglin looked at the guard, a expression of horror on his face. He instantly left the table and walked towards the guard, "Who have?!" The guard followed him as he made his way towards the war room. "The rebels sir." "What rebels?" He asked sounding surprised. "They call themselves the chosen ones emperor." Maeglin walked into the war room.

Generals and other officers where arguing and shouting against each other. "Enough!" Maeglin shouted looking at his generals. They all dropped whatever they were doing and turned to him, they all bowed except for three marshals who nodded their heads. "Who are our enemies, and how strong are they? You answer me!" He said pointing at a younger looking general. "Right away sir." The general said nervously as he grabbed a piece of paper of the table. He coughed and then said "They call themselves the freedom fighters. We estimate their numbers to be somewhere around 2 million." Maeglin stared in disbelief. "2 Million?' He then burst out in laughter.

The generals and marshals looked at their emperor, they seemed worried. "For a moment there I was worried. Dispatch the second and the third army. Let's see how they handle fighting 200 million soldiers." The other people in the room grinned, they all welcomed the thought of battle. "Also.. activate one of the giants, I will control it myself." One of the generals nodded and teleported away. "The rest of you prepare for battle, today we crush any doubt the Dues Filli have in the empire!" He said clenching his fist. The room was filled with excited yells, Melanthios looked his son and felt proud. "You have grown up to be a good man Maeglin, now to make sure no others god interfere." He said as he vanished in a puff of smoke.

****
The troops moved into position, Kain would lead them into battle as he was the strongest Striga alive. The cannons were prepared to fire, and the wizards had started their spells. Still one problem would remain, it was rumored that their leader had some kind of forbidden magic. Still the battle would be very one sided, he knew Melanthios was on their side and next to that they had the giants. He turned around and on the horizon saw a large metal giant walking towards him. It was almost unfair to use such a weapon against these filthy rebels, but that made it even more enjoyable.

The giant shot of a flare, the soldiers on the wall looked surprised. "Call Lion.. The empire has come to crush us, we must stand strong!" The soldier saluted and then ran off, the captain looked in the distance. Whatever plan they had the walls would defend them, there was no way they could lose. Wait what was that?! The defenders looked at something in the distance, it seemed to be a giant golem. "That thing must be at least 40 meters..." The captain whispered to himself, moments before hell broke loose.

Heron

"81....82....83! Oh wait no 84!" Heron shouted as he shot down another rebel. He jumped and threw the three knives he was holding in his right hand. Two more rebels hit the ground, at the same time as Heron. But unlike them he rolled and managed to take cover behind a nearby wall, the two rebels were very dead. He carefully looked over the cover, it seemed the rebels had made a choke point. He used a spell to come into contact with one of the cannon squads. "I need assistance, fire at location 41B, 54C." There was a short silence, and then the contact was broken. A stray bullet just passed his face. He quickly dodged to the side. Damn it hurry up.

Suddenly there was an ear deafening noise followed by many shouts and explosions. A grin appeared on Heron's face as he jumped out of cover, he spotted 4 rebels remaining as he charged forward. A bullet pierced his shoulder, but he only clenched his teeth. Shooting a Striga with a mission was about as useful as shooting a god, he quickly activated one of his healing spells as he kept running. He waited for the rebels to send another volley at him, before jumping and grabbing two handy grenades. The grenades were thrown at the rebels, whose eyes became filled with horror. They exploded and suddenly small needles erupted everywhere, all of them coated in deadly poison.

Heron landed next to the corpses, he quickly drew his sword and ran onwards. He would make sure his name lived forever, and this battle would be the perfect opportunity. He continued making his way towards the palace, he would cut Lion down and end this rebellion once and for all. He jumped and cut down two more rebels, but out of the corner of his eye he spotted another rebels. This one was preparing a spell, but not just a spell, one with his elemental weakness. But before he could complete it his eyes turned white, a sword appeared from his chest and then drawn back. The wizard fell to reveal Kallen drenched in blood, he quickly wiped his sword and walked over to Heron. "Calm down boy, if you continue to fight this recklessly you will die before this battle is over." Heron looked annoyed "I will die if that is what it takes.. Lion will die by my blade!" He said as he walked on.

Kallen sighed and followed his hot blooded nephew, this exactly the reason he had wanted to keep him from the front line. Heron and Kallen quickly sneaked into the castle, the sounds of battle came closer with the second. It wouldn't be long before the city fell, the rebellion hadn't stood much of a change. The only problem now was their leader, Lion was much stronger then previously thought. Heron sneaked to one of the balconies and looked into the main hall, where Lion was walking through seemingly heading towards the throne room. Heron didn't hesitate for a second, he jumped and fired both his pistols at Lion.

Both the shots connected and ripped his flesh apart. But he didn't even flinch, he simple turned around and looked at Heron. There was a flash of recognition on Lion's face, followed by a wide smile. "You...if I kill you, he will surely suffer." He then lifted his hand and pointed at Heron, who fired once again blasting his torso to pieces. But Lion kept smiling, Heron looked at him in disbelief. No Striga was able to do this! Suddenly a black wave shot from Lion's hand, it moved to fast too dodge. Heron moved his hands up to dodge, and right before the impact he felt someone shoving him.

Then there was nothing, only pain and blackness. He tried to open his eyes, but the pain was just too intense. He had depleted his magic during the fights before, and was unable to use anything more then a weak healing spell. But he felt it was too late, he lowered his arm as he felt his conciseness fading. "Is this the end?..No it..can.." He let out a last breath as he fell back.

Heron
Heron opened his eyes to find himself in a completely white room, his injuries were healed and he was wearing a strange white uniform. He stood up and noticed someone sitting in a chair looking at him, the person was hidden by the strange robe he was wearing. "Who are you....Where am I?" He looking a the man, the man stood up and looked at Heron. "My name is not important, and this is the after life." He said motioning around. Heron looked at the man with disbelief, he then recovered and walked towards the man.

He grabbed his collar and looked at him, to see nothing but a black shade. "What are you talking about?! I can't be dead!" The man simple brushed his hand aside. "Please refrain from physical contact... But yes you can be dead, as you almost are." He simply stated looking at Heron. "What do you mean almost?" The man began to walk, and Heron followed him. "Well almost, you are just clinging to life." Heron placed his hands on the man's shoulders and turned him to face him. "Then let me go back! I can survive this!"

The man shook his head, "No you cannot, no mortal can survive such an hit. Though.. there is one way for you to live on." He said thinking about something. "What is it?! Please tell me, I will do anything if it means I get to live!" The man looked at him, almost as if he was judging a piece of meat. "Well you could always become my apprentice, if you do that, you aren't able to die from that wound anymore." Heron looked at the man and suddenly something dawned on him. "Are you Melanthios?" He asked the robbed figure.

The man looked at him, and nodded. "I am indeed. And with that out of the way, you know what I am about to offer you." He said while walking over to Heron. He put out his hand and took of his hood. "Will you join me, and stand besides me as one of my sons?" Heron looked at the hand of the god, he then took it and shook it. Melanthios hand then started glowing, as he started the ritual.

The Storyteller

The Storyteller spoke slowly and tiredly as he continued the tale.

"Thus as revolution brewed in the city of Manor, the Fourth Age drew to a close. Even in these last days, the gods were still busy. Zareth created the Woolly Starwhale, a new sub-species native to Volk which would be known for their strength, fur and huge tusks. Meanwhile, Melanthios raised up a mortal by the name of Heron to be a new son and demigod. On Evalon M'endar created the Elysian Field, a magical field which made mortals see the sites of the recent battles as an endless field of wildflowers and general happiness.

So, with that the Fourth Age ended and aside from the revolution that would follow just after it's end, the universe became peaceful again... for a short time,"

Cassiel

As Cassiel let the other gods do their own business, he was working on preparing for what would inevitably be a large battle. The voice in his head was only getting louder and more grave. Cassiel could feel forces moving about in the realm, thankfully nowhere near the portal. It was strange but he seemed to have a slight connection to...whatever it was now.

Either way, he wasn't letting it get its way, not now, not ever. Cassiel took out Stardust and smiled at it. The flamberge represented what was possible when gods worked as one. He needed to make it better. Cassiel's own power was reaching that of his father's and he could feel something welling up inside him. That no longer would he be in Seith's shadow, that soon he would surpass his late father. Shine brighter than the first light in the skies.

He took his flamberge and considered how he would accomplish this, but then his mind went to the Girigori. It had been a long time since he had visited them and if gods could make items, what's stopping mortals from upgrading them?

Cassiel rushed down to Coelus, which looked entirely different from what it once was, trees and wildlife now grew plentiful across a very beautiful enviroment. What once was a glass wasteland populated solely by angels and robots was now a lush vacation from reality. Even stranger, it seemed as if the Girigori were perfectly fine with the new additions.

"All of this while the gods were away...they never stop amazing me."

Cassiel raised his voice and shouted to the planet. "I am more than impressed with you all, now it is time to make something of yourselves and do what was once thought to be a god's work. Yes, I am Cassiel, son of Seith and guardian of Coelus. I have seen a great threat from a distance beyond mortal comprehension and need aid crafting a weapon to defeat it."

At first...it seemed as if he was going unanswered but all at once millions of Girigori came flooding towards his position and within a short time most of the planet had migrated to Cassiel's position. In no time at all, they planned the upgrades, how they could be done and how it would be implemented. The Girigori all seemed so organized now and familiar as well. Though on the surface they looked the same, something about them had changed and Cassiel distinctly remembered gold on the planet but now he was the only one with a golden color.

It was then that the Girigori announced their leader would be coming soon. He was tied up in other events, mostly grand plans that were designed to please Cassiel in some manner or another. Soon, a single Girigori walked up, crowned in clothing anything but modest. Aside from the ridiculous facial mask radiating in lights and diamonds, the costume was bright, flashy and entirely unlike what Girigori had been wearing not too long ago. In fact, Cassiel noticed all the Girigori looked less reserved and more freely moving than before. Everything started to connect once the leader removed the large mask covering his face.

"Zabekiel?" Cassiel questioned. The Girigori from when he founded the Vigil was back on Coelus and running it now? How long had he been gone? So much had changed, but now wasn't the time.

"Zabekiel, I need you to help me create this sword. Get everyone to pitch in, cast as powerful a spell as you can on this sword." Cassiel hefted Stardust in the air and Zabekiel yelled at the top of his lungs "Fire!"

Soon, an immense and blinding beam of light struck Stardust and it fell down to the ground with a clank. It had absorbed their power and contained the essence of Coelus itself. Cassiel smirked and picked it up, waving to the Girigori and teleporting away. It would soon be time to move against this dark god.

The Storyteller

The Storyteller took a deep breath of his pipe and trudged on with his tale, despite the sleepiness of the children around him.

"The time between the ages was a time of rest, where none of the gods did anything really, with one exception. Cassiel reforged his Stardust and in doing so greatly increased it's power Thus five hundred years after the end of the previous age began Fifth Age. It was to be a time when machinery would come into it's own, resulting in both unparalleled living standards for mortals but also terrible weaponry capable of great destruction. Some even said it could be the last age, were they right? Well..."

Roe and Petal

Roe sat lazily at a desk in his small house in the Hallowed Court, sorting a bundle of papers spread across it. Petal skipped through the front door holding a bunch of leaflets under her arm.

"Hey Pets, I've finally got all the stories about how the Republic was made together, want to listen?" Roe called over to her.

"Okay," she replied eagerly and pressed a invitation into his hands, "First look at this though, I got a nice Rowan lady to write these properly for us."

Roe glanced down at the leaflet with an approving nod.

"It's good... but you're really sure you want this?"

"Yeah, definitely!" Petal beamed so brightly that Roe couldn't help but smile back, despite his own misgivings.

"Okay," he sighed and handed back the invitation he was holding, "You can send them,"

The young girl clicked her fingers and in an instant the leaflets vanished, tunneling their way through the fabric of the universe to wherever their recipients would be.

Dear [recipient],

You have been formally invited to the wedding of Roe and Petal, to be held on the seventh day of Melanthiosi in the two thousand, five hundred and sixth year of the Flower at the Entertainment Hall of the Hallowed Court. The morning ceremony will be followed by a reception and party in the afternoon with food and drink provided for. Dress can be either formal or fancy.

Dåre 30, 2

Dåre had fallen asleep again, however, rather than dreaming his own dreams, he had traveled through the minds of every mortal who had heard his flute. Seemingly a side-effect of changing the a law of the universe; the nature of dreams. And now, centuries later, he felt so happy! There was less fighting than before, a lot less. And many mortals had embraced the warm light that was madness, the exciting and dear reality that was the depths of the usually ignored parts of the mind. On Ilea, individuals giving up their former life, and being granted a new one started living, some choosing to avoid the company of other people, others starting the journey anew together. So gleeful, so wonderful! He laughed for days from the corner of the universe he had ended up in, the carpet seemed to have taken him there when he had been busy exploring and picking apart minds. Frikk was nowhere to be seen, but Dåre could sense that the demigod had taken to guiding the sentient mortals on Ilea. All was well. All was fantastic! Marvelous!

"I deserve a treat!"

He conjured up a meal's worth of strawberries, and filled his stomach, before grinning widely, and looking around at where he was. There were a few planets around, and a lot of stars, but it was peaceful, if somewhat boring. Still, not a bad place to go for a bit of a nap, almost a bit too conveniently placed for a mere carpet to find. "Perhaps... It was not the carpet?! Perhaps it was----" He left the thought hanging in the air, figuring he could do that sort of thinking later. For now, he just wanted to be happy, and cheerful. Besides, he had to check up on Frikk, did he not? Besides, the demigod had taken the flute, so even if he didn't have to, making sure the bird wasn't going around doing mischief with it was probably a good idea.

Okay. Who was he kidding? He just wanted to see his friend!

Frikk 8

Frikk had gone back to Ilea after Dåre had fallen asleep, call it a sense of responsibility, or just natural instinct on returning home. Whichever you choose, the bird had taken a pride in finding the newly arrived mortals. He would lead them, show them where they could get food, and what to touch and not to touch. One could say they were like children in his eyes, in need of being shown what to touch and what not to touch. As a result, he was cherished and loved. At first, it had only been one or two, but as the wars continued, and the world had changed, more and more mortals had arrived. At this point, the isles of Ilea and the wonderland within had around 1000 sentient mortals, from every corner of the world. When their life ended, Frikk would mourn them, and when a new life was born, which happened sometimes there as well, the bird would care for the children, play with them, and teach them the ways of Ilea. It was a blissful lifestyle, fighting was frowned upon, and if someone tried to gang up on someone weaker, the bird would protect the victim. The only thing the little demigod did miss was the foolish god of madness. He could sense him, out there, but he could do nothing but wait.

Dåre

In less than a second, he saw the demigod, and in more than a second but less than ten seconds, he had him in a hug. There were feathers everywhere, tickling his nose so he had to sneeze. He laughed, and he could swear Frikk did the bird equalent of it. "You've grown!" Wait, could a demigod grow? Whatever. "How has things been?!" He hugged even tighter, so much that Frikk started kicking and making a fuss. "Oh. Yeah. Thanks--- no, wait... Sorry?" Dåre let go. "How have you been doing? Seems you've done a great job taking care of the mortals." The ones there were staring at him, children nearby had stopped playing. Then it dimmed for him. Not a single mortal knew who he was. Right!

"Not here, not there, not anywhere! So fun!" He laughed, and was only stared at more. This was getting awkward, the mortals were clearly vary of him. Most of them had probably never seen another god than Frikk, and Frikk was... A bird.
"Say. Frikk. Take the flute, wait till they sleep, and then try to teach them who I am, okay? It gets lonely not getting recognized sometimes." The bird stared at the flute, and then at him. What was the problem? All that was needed was to--

"Oh. Beak. Riiight. Lemme see... Yeah. Look closely." Dåre changed his form into that of a bird the same kind of Frikk, in the color of rich brown, before changing back into the form he normally took. Frikk seemed to have learned from this, because he did the same, changing his form into that of a young, white-haired child. It didn't seem completely finished, but it was good enough for him to be able to play the flute. Besides, it was an interesting look. Good enough for him! "So, you go take care of that."
Frikk responded with a nod, it seemed he could still not talk.

Suddenly some sort of sheet of paper appeared. Actually, two of them, Frikk had received one as well. Curious. Reading it, it said:

Dear Dåre
You have been formally invited to the wedding of Roe and Petal, to be held on the seventh day of Melanthiosi in the two thousand, five hundred and sixth year of the Flower at the Entertainment Hall of the Hallowed Court. The morning ceremony will be followed by a reception and party in the afternoon with food and drink provided for. Dress can be either formal or fancy.
Regards,
Petal and Roe

It was sudden, but he got an invite for some kind of a party. A marriage, wasn't it? Between Roe, and his love, Petal, who he was looking forward to meeting. Marriages was fun! Probably. He had never been to one, but still. Fantastic. And it was fairly close, not a lot of days till it was. At least, according to his internal calendar.

"I will go prepare a gift!" he announced, loudly, more to himself than anyone else. Frikk looked at him, surprised perhaps, before nodding, and taking the flute to teach the mortals. Dåre then wandered off, into a small cave. Oh, he knew what he would give them. He knew it exactly. Problem was, it was a surprise. And, apparantly, other gods could sense, if faintly, items being made. "I'll try making a weaker one, then. It's the thought that counts, and all that. Besides, how one gives it, is half the gift." Dåre then started making a magnificent gift, with magic. It was going to be great!

"I had so much planned."

You served your purpose well. You did not fall to the greed or power of your task as others have before you, embrace the reward.

"When I started down this path... well I just didn't think it would end like this. Listen to me, I always thought that when my time came I wouldn't say the same cliched things that everyone else does and I saw every way I might go. Least I thought I did."

Your imagination is lacking. You think like the creations, limited. This is not your end. It is your chance, your new beginning.

"And who are you to say this is what should happen to me?.... How many people have asked me that? I really don't know anything do I!"

You know this is for the best, you know it is. But you are still young, you will learn. You do not realise it yet but this is your time.

"And if I don't agree?"

You still have your own strength, this will not be forced on you, your path is open.

"Well that's something I suppose."

"Who are you talking to?" Asked Carnivox.

"Just an old acquaintance." Said Zareth. Still he had a few things left to do, affairs to put in order. "I'm almost ready."

"I still don't get what you're planning to do with this weird stuff you've been looking into." The said, ever the skeptic.

"You will soon, if you choose to." Zareth got up from his meditation, holding an arrow in one hand. he handed it to Carnivox, it looked like an an unassuming object if ever there was one. "Don't get it mixed up with the other ones." He said in a parental tone.

Car took it with a little hesitation as if it might burn him. "And this will..."

"Open the way, to a whole new world, a new universe and plane of existence. I can't vouch for what it might be like, this isn't an exact science. Only Ailish really knew the art of this but the arrow should be good for a one way trip." The two of them seemed to look at the artifact for a while in silence before raising their heads to see each other. "It's yours, car, a fresh start. No one could tell you what to do, no one would know you, you can leave your past behind and make yourself whatever you want."

Still part of Zareth hoped he wouldn't. They may not have been the most traditional pairing and Carnivox may have loathed the idea of being called Zareth's 'son' but the death god did see him as his closest family. The two of them went back so far and had been a lot to each other, friend, confidante and (to one of them at least) a loved one. Whatever he may have done Zareth felt that the world would be a duller place without the wolf.

Someone cleared their throat on the edge of their meeting, snapping the two beings out of their thought.

"And I haven't forgotten about you." Zareth turned to the young stryfe who had been awkwardly standing on the sidelines. "Though I have to say this is very unexpected, you aren't made of the same stuff we are, I can't even begin to say what might happen to you." He warned, handing a sword to them.

"Well this neighborhood's about to go up in smoke by the sounds of things." Said Grimnir, taking the sword for himself. "And besides-"

"You're looking for one more brilliant adventure?" Zareth cut him off.

Grimnir smirked to himself. "yeah, something like that. I've rested for too long anyway."

"Well you earned this, Grimnir. Consider it my way of an apology for all-"

"The crap you put me through?"

Carnivox gave a bark of laughter and the three of them settled into silence. The time was approaching, there was no pint in dragging things out any further.

"It's time." Zareth said, simply. "The two of you should get going." he turned to the spirits of Evermoor, most of them had abandoned any physical forms. "Everyone ready?!" He called, if they replied then Zareth was the only one who heard them.

Grimnir set out on his own path out of Evermoor, plunging the sword into the air before him and stepping with it through the ether, quietly and without flare. The stryfe was the first of his kind to set foot on a new planet and now he was going to be the first to step into another plane. Carnivox however stayed for a moment.

"What about you... where are you going?" He asked.

"Maybe you'll find out one day Car, hopefully that wont be for a good long while though."

"Will it hurt?"

"I hope not." Zareth breathed nervously. He had to laugh at the irony about it. He'd been listening to people's rants and tears since the dawn of creation and here he was... doing exactly the same thing. Wasn't this the part where he was supposed to start bargaining?

This can be your reward, you will know of worlds beyond creation and more. That was what they promised. He'd always known death as a transition rather than an end. He had the chance to enter a plane of existence beyond his current one, to see what happened to his kind when they passed. Perhaps he'd even see Eldarwen and the others. But with every step on a journey we leave something behind... and there was a lot he'd miss if he left. But this wasn't for him, it was for Evermoor, for everyone.

"They'll be free of us now, free of any overbearing gods." He turned back to the wolf. "Goodbye, Car. I'll see you later."

"Not if I see you first." The hunter turned and took off to one of the exits. Like always he moved with the primal grace of a true hunter. Some might have said his movement made it look as if he turned and looked behind him, back to the first person to have shown him kindness in this world and that his animal face flashed with a look of sadness. Of course they would have been told they were wrong, this was Carnivox the wolf, who would think he could act sentimentally?

Zareth was the last to go, standing alone on the sun drenched hillside he had first made the day he had carved Evermoor out of the rock. The last things he saw were memories, frozen in their perfect moments. When he was just a ghost of an idea meeting a lively spark that called out ROOOOEEE. The first time he stood in the forests with Carnivox and Eldarwen. Sitting by a warm fire side with a pair of beings that reached out to him and called him brother and held him as family. Testing blades and mettle with a young warrior with his heart full of passion and vision. Walking among creations that showed him he could be more than he thought he could be and meeting the dead, full of more energy than they ever had in life. The young woman who came to him as a student and became so much more.

"I don't want to go."
* * * * *
Carivox stood in the canyon on Evalon. Zareth and Evermoor, as anyone knew them, were gone. He held the arrow he had been given and readied his bow, holding his breath, wondering might wait for him on the other side when out of nowhere a note fell in front of him and impaled itself on the arrow. He looked it over, it was a wedding invitation.

Weddings often ended in parties right? Car had never been INVITED to a party before. That could be fun and it wasn't like the other worlds were going anywhere. He could always save the arrow for later. Now was the time to party!

"A wedding does sound like fun." Came a chirpy, familiar voice. Carnivox nearly leapt out of his skin.

"What are you doing here?!" he yellped.

"I decided I didn't want to go." Said Zareth. "It's not like I'm going anywhere soon anyway." He smirked until Carnivoc punched him in the gut.

"Damn you! you got me all worked up for nothing?! I thought you were dead.... AGAIN!" Zareth reeled from the hit coughing his way back to composure. "Is the bloody underworld even gone?"

"Yes, well kind of... they wont be bound by the likes of us anymore, no god will be able to interfere with them ever again. At least not on the same scale again, I can't speak for the individual."

"What's the point of that?" Carnivox tilted his head like the quizzical canine he was.

"All things in time, Car. Until then... we have a wedding to attend."

M'endaxius - 26/30 AP, 2/2 MP

The sigh spanned almost an eternity and the god awoke to the dawn of another new Age. It stirred. Time had gone quickly, too quickly and thick smog lay like a blanket in the sky. The machinations of mortals had changed the face of the planet. Though, they would not see the horror that the Elysian Field hid from mortal sight. Nevertheless, the god chose to change its surroundings to that of Eld, eager to see how the forsaken race was faring. In an instant, M'endar warped its way to someplace near the grand city of Ayamine. Ironically, nature had taken over since the Treemother had left. Vines wrapped themselves around the pillars of the temples, and small scavengers roamed the streets in search of food. The city wars still stood strong, though all kinds of creepers and roosting birds had made their home there. However, the amphitheatre and arena were not neglected. The ring of clashing swords echoed through the city and the amphitheatre rang with song . Partly thanks to be nightchildren that made their home in the former. As for the latter, the Ekiruru were always fond of battle, and derived some pleasure from the act. They even had a word for it:

Schadenfreude.

Nevertheless, progress had not abandoned the Ekiruru. Complex devices whirred as the wind blowed. Ekiruru walked the streets with an air of contentment. Though on inspection, the wooden bodies of the Ekiruru that wandered the streets had hollow gaps in their bodies. One here had a eye missing, while another had a huge hole in their heart. M'endar smiled. At least they had some notion of happiness here. But, as for the rest... The smiles were hollow. The nightchildren cowered underground, disturbed by the constant din of battle. The battle-born were keen on losing themselves in the rush of battle. The wildings sang strange, sorrowful songs. Some even were still praying for the Treemother to return. M'endar continued onward into the heart of Ayamine, into the throne room. Invisible to the mortals that stood there, it looked on. The lone priestess of Eldarwen barked orders to clear the graffiti off the walls. However, some of the mocking words were carved into the ancient stone. One such word particularly irked her, as she stood against all possible meanings of it. It was there, now, carved in the dome of the temple:

Götterdämmerung.

Tired of the hollow city, M'endar wandered onto the beaten path which was surrounded by trees. In that moment, an invitation fell from the sky, almost like a petal from a cherry blossom. M'endar caught it as it was floating in the air. A quick inspection revealed that it was an invitation to Petal's and Roe's wedding. It smiled. The young god was probably the last person the Deceiver would think of when it came to commitment. Even so, the child god had joined the alliance and had proven to be a decent ally. Maybe Roe was finally growing up? With these thoughts, M'endar wandered into the deep forest that covered Eld and found a small group of wildings chanting, no, singing a song. M'endar took a seat and watched. This particular group of wildings seem to still believe that Eldarwen would be coming back, and were begging her to return. M'endar sighed. The Valassi here were content, their holes filled with incorporeal bliss. Though, the person had to give consent and most of this proud warrior race were keen on standing on their own two feet. Nevertheless, M'endar would bring change, with that song playing in the distance, all the while.

The Storyteller

Stifling a yawn, the Storyteller continued his tale wearily.

"Upon the planet Ilea Daare forged a mysterious and powerful item as a present for Roe and Petal's upcoming wedding, at the same time his demigod Frikk inspired a large group of mortals with his flute.

Meanwhile on Eld, M'endar successfully altered the brain chemistry of the Ekiruru to imbue them with a deep longing to search for their lost queen Eldarwen."

"Wait," a young boy piped up, "Whatever happened to the revolution that the humans were having? You never told us the end of that story,"

"You're right," the Storyteller replied with a nod, "I quite forgot about it. Well, I'll explain presently..."

Northern Snow

Five hundred years since the fiery conclusion of the revolution that ended the Empire and humanity had reached yet greater heights. From the ashes of the old regime a new federation of Rowan and Changelings was formed that along with the Ekiruru, Kinderven and other scattered peoples who lived on the eastern hemisphere of Evalon. This young nation was known by most as the Republic, stretching from southern shores of Olegard to the north of Almia where it bordered with what remained of the Dwarven Kingdom and the Lainir Empire. As with the past age, the moon of Oculus Pets remained also within it's territory.

Technology was also advancing dramatically: beast-driven carriages, dragons and velocifies were all being overtaken by new cars and aeroplanes which were usually faster and only needed fuel when actually in use. Electricity now powered a multitude of devices and with radios and newspapers booming, the mass-media was experiencing a new golden age. The people of the Republic took full advantage of this media to scrutinise their president and other elected leaders closer than they had ever had since the birth of democratic rule at the fall of Empire.

Still, even in this modern age not everything had changed. In one of the more southern cities of Chama stood a stone temple, dating all the way back to the Third Age. There a student by the name of Northern Snow stood at a podium and preached for his final exam to join the priesthood. Not much more than twenty five, slender and with a soft gentle voice, few would have guessed the young recruit was the grandson of the famous explorer Northern Wind, the first human to map every Stryfe land and live to tell the tale.

Book of Rowan: Latter Day Revelations said:
The trio of watching priests discussed briefly among themselves and then gave Snow an approving nod. He stepped forward and then repeated the vow he had memorised off by heart.

"I, Northern Snow, solemnly swear to abide by the priestly and Kaitist creed of the Lord Roe and Lady Petal, to serve and protect all innocents under my care and to honour the Rowan people and human race."

"Excellent," the central priest replied and reached forward to shake Snow's hand, "Welcome to the Orchid Missionary Order of the Kaitist Priesthood. Any idea where you'll request to be assigned?"

"I've always wanted to be a teacher," Snow smiled, "I'm hoping to apply to go to the Kinderven city on Coelus."

Roe and Petal

Today was the day. Roe could scarcely believe that after two and half thousand years since he had agreed to his friend's impromptu proposal, they would finally be bound as one. Of course the young god hadn't been born yesterday and he knew that when mortal grown-ups got married they acted in ways both he and Petal had agreed were weird and kind of yucky, but they didn't have to do anything like that. If he was honest he didn't care hugely about the wedding but it seemed like a fun game and it would make Petal happy so he was ready to go along with it. Besides, it wasn't like he was going to marry anyone else soon so it might as well be with his best friend, he would have suggested they officially become brother and sister but since he didn't have parents that wouldn't make much sense anyway.

He snapped out of his somewhat garbled thoughts as he bounded up to the Entertainment Hall, where Petal was standing precariously on a step-ladder hanging out white flowers along the sides. Tables and tables of all kinds of food and drink were lined up inside the hall, with also a space for dancing and a podium at the head of the hall where the ceremony itself could take place.

"Are you almost done Pets? They'll be here any minute!" Roe called up as he glanced at a clock on one side of the hall.

"Already? You'll have to finish this Roe, I need to put on my dress and you aren't allowed to see until the wedding begins, remember?"

"Sure..." the young god muttered and his fiancée disappeared off towards their house. He sat down on a table and picked up a iced bun, chewing lazily on it as he waited for the guests to arrive.

Ven - 8 AP

A flash of iron and fire briefly flitted into existence, smack dab in the middle of the Entertainment Hall. Though it vanished as swiftly as it had come, the light left three things behind: The scent of burning ozone, a few puffs of smoke rising from the scorch marks that now marred the once-stainless floor, and a rather tall Mizzen, humanoid in shape and number of limbs.

Sighing internally, Ven swept his gaze around the freshly decorated chamber, the sound of clanking, whirring gears accompanying the motion. The machine'd be lying if he said this was where he wanted to be at the moment; he didn't understand why Rowan bothered to submit themselves to rituals like this, never mind why actual gods would choose to do so. And there were so many projects and issues to keep tabs on, calculations to run and threats to circumvent; why did he have to waste his precious time at a meaningless little event like this?

Because getting on a god's bad side, especially one with a child's temperament, is never a good idea.

Surprisingly enough, it looked like the synthetic was the first guest to arrive. Ven was more than a little surprised by this turn of events. He had tried to show up as close to the event time as possible, but apparently everyone else had decided to try and cut it even closer. An odd choice, considering that some of them would probably have more of an attachment to this ceremony then he would, but hardly one he could blame them for.

As soon as his eyes spotted Roe sitting by his lonesome, Ven raised one of his mismatched arms, the thicker right one, in greeting. "Roe. How's it going?"

Zareth 30 ,2

Flight only had one thing left to do, then she could do whatever she wanted. She could go back to her nest, find a mate, make some chicks of her own. Someone to carry on her line. The attitudes of the gods had rubbed off on Flight in her time with them and the phoenix had long ago set her sights on becoming ruler and god of all birds. It seemed like it would be very easy to her. then she could take her pick of mates... she could have ALL the mates.

"I'll take that." Said Zareth, appearing out of nowhere and plucking the envelope from her beak. With a deft hand he held up the collection of letters and willed them to burn, catching the ring he'd placed in the centre fall from the ashes and into his open palm. "Looks like I'll still have time for that afterall."

In a burst of feathers he and Flight appeared outside the entertainment hall. Zareth pushed his way through the grand set of doors, Flight perched on his shoulder, and surveyed the scene. The child gods had made a nice set up, the hall was all very festive and welcoming, more so than usual anyway. Carnivox had made his own way there and was already helping himself to the array of treats that had been left out. Flight took off, making a straight line for Petal. Maybe she's feeling the need for some female company.

Zareth fidgeted with the ring hidden in his tunic and made himself comfortable, what was the usual etiquette for a child wedding?

M'endaxius - 24/30 AP, 2/2 MP

M'endar chuckled then teleported to the wedding, dressed in an embroidered robe and mask. The same as the as the ones it had worn to the previous party eons age. It stopped and saw both Lleu and Zs'Wua in the distance. This party would prove to be quite the distraction. Especially with those two next to each other. One a schemer and thinker, the other was more of a doer. The Lady had arrived in an elegant black dress, in stark contrast to Lleu's attire - a single pair of trousers. Unfortunately, there was no way that the best of the Performers could came here. This realm was beyond mortals' reach. But was it? The power of a god could change all that. Not to mention that it would suffice as a wedding gift.

Cassiel

Winter had dawned upon Coelus as it did every year. Coelus may have once been pure diamond, now covered in a lush tropical forest, but that didn't mean winter was an impossibility. It was on this cold winter day, that Cassiel was working to prepare for the wedding of the first god he had truly met. His old friend, Roe. The gift he had in mind was pretty easy, it wouldn't be material as Roe only cared so much about such things. He was going to give the two a new look at the universe, let them go down and travel for a while.

As Cassiel prepared himself to teleport to the wedding, a prayer came to him. It was rare he recieved them, even with the Vigil in full swing, most weren't the praying type. Zabekiel however, was making one of his very rare requests. Cassiel figured he might as well answer it quickly before going off to visit Roe and Petal. Cassiel honed in on Zabekiel and found himself inside a very private looking room. This was unlike what Zabekiel had been living in for a while. Cassiel wasn't in the throne room, that much he knew.

"Zabekiel, you called upon me? What is the matter?"

Zabekiel had a look of sadness upon him. One of frustration, one of malcontent and one of disappointment. He said simply. "There is a problem with the Girigori. We are being attacked upon multiple fronts and we can not do anything about it. Seith's old ways...they are ripping us to pieces Cassiel. The Girigori can't undo them, they are too rooted in our history, but you, you have the power to do it. To save the Girigori! Please, I don't often ask for help, but this, this is important."

Cassiel was put back a bit. Of all the requests he could have gotten, changing the fabric of the Girigori was a tall order. Still, Seith's ways were outdated in the current world. It would help make the world better he figured if the Girigori were free to do as they wished. Cassiel sighed and said "Sounds fair, what do you think I should replace them with?"

Zabekiel thought about this for a second and said "An unwavering kindness to fellow Girigori no matter what." Zabekiel figured what else would come from it. The truth of Girigori superiority wuld spread through his planet, everyone would realise it. Those allied with the Girigori were on their level, but those outside of the Empire were adorable warring insects to be tamed and brought in. At least, that's what Zabekiel figured.

Cassiel nodded and raised Stardust. He imagined the current doctrines and burned them, inspiring the law, writer to take the initiative and boldly write new laws to replace them. Soon, he brought them to the council and Cassiel made them optimistic for the new future. That all Girigori would embrace these new laws, for a better tomorrow. That done, Cassiel nodded his head and said "Do well for the Girigori Zabekiel, they deserve it. I trust you." The god of warriors then flashed out to Roe's wedding.

Zabekiel was happy to hear that his god had the same unwavering faith that he put into him. Cassiel's dream of a united world, then of all races united would come true. It was only a matter of time now. "I won't disappoint you, god."

DC11: Change the Girigori race's flaws. Replace inability to go to war with a weakness to gold and general inexperience with combat. Also, replace inability to leave Coelus with Superiority Complex. While not outright racist, all Girigori have a sense that they and their allies are a few levels above other races in development.

Dåre 25, 1
Frikk 5

The gift had turned out well, fortunately. Nothing worse than giving away a bad gift, after all. Especially not in a wedding, from what he just made up in his own mind. However, Dåre came to realize that it had taken longer than he had expected to get it done, and that it was about time he got ready for the wedding.

Dåre checked the position of the sun in the sky... well, that was pointless. Not easy to see the location of the sun under

Still, he could feel that time was running out, in more than one way. Sure, he could be a bit late for the wedding, fashionable late, make a whole deal of it, but he'd rather not. As a matter of fact, being late was probably rude, and he didn't want to be rude when it came to an occasion like this. It didn't do anything apart from making people annoyed either way, from his experience.

Dåre changed his attire, he chose to wear a suit with a top-hat, with a nice pink and light blue theme. He had a blue bow-tie, and small hearts several places on his suit, as well as one on his hat. This was something suiting a wedding, there was no doubt about that! He placed the gift under his hat, wanting to still keep it a bit of a secret.

With a pleased smile, he went to find Frikk. The bird was at the top of one of the nearby mountains, nearby being quite far, actually. Of course, he could always teleport or something boring like that, but he summoned the carpet and took a seat, before going at a reasonable speed towards this mountain.

Passing over various kinds of natural wonders and lands, the mortals he passed looked at Dåre with awe and respect. He smiled, and bowed deeply, still standing on the carpet, something that seemed to surprise them. Enjoying the attention, he made the carpet do a loop, still standing on it and laughing, his trick one easily done by a god. They were amazed! How fabulously wonderful! Doing small tricks, and making up puzzles only a madman could answer, he forgot what he was about to do.

However, after a while, the demigod appeared, and teleported him to the location of the wedding, somehow being the more sensible of them. Frikk had teleported them a bit away from the party, so he had to walk or teleport, the bird having left the carpet back there. He entered the hall of entertainment, it looking almost as dashing as he did, albeit he could think of a few ways to make more colorful. Frikk seemed to take the sight in as well, running around.

Dåre smiled when he saw Roe and a few other gods and demigods, he wasn't the first person to arrive, but certainly far from the last person to arrive. Petal didn't seem to be around, at least, none of these looked like a petal, so she was probably getting ready. Dåre bowed down, holding his hat in his hand. On his head, a small controller with only a red button could be seen, albeit what it was for was nothing but another part of the surprise.

"My deepest and sincerest congratulations, to you, Roe! This must be the merriest day I'll ever live through!" He then put the hat back on, and looked towards the others. "And greeting to you, fellow guests!"

Frikk made a motion, and a sound, showing how happy he was as well, and saying hello. His feathers seemed beautiful and shiny. So the demigod had made an effort to look good as well. Dåre conjured up a heart made of... Well, colors, one that would stay on Frikk's feathers until he made it disappear. Now they were both ready for a party!

Heron 8AP

Heron slowly stood up from the ground his eyes completely purple, the wall behind him was completely evaporated by the beam from Lion. As he slowly stood up he noticed that he was still covered in bruises and wounds. He closed his eyes and focused on his core of power, and all of his wounds vanished within seconds. His eyes turned back to their normal deep red color, he grabbed his sword and smiled at Lion. Lion's face was twisted by anger, he aimed his hand at Heron and screamed "Why must you always stand in my way?! I WILL DESTROY YOU!" another beam was fired from Lion's hand, but this time Heron was ready for it. He quickly placed his sword in front of the beam, and deflected it back to Lion. The beam hit Lion right in his face, burning half of it of. Lion screamed in anger as he grew claws, and charged towards Heron. He then attacked him with his claws, far faster then any mortal could ever hope to stop.

Heron noticed that he couldn't keep up with Lion, even though Lion seemed to have given in to anger he was stronger and faster. "Too slow" Lion said as he grabbed Heron's sword with one hand, and pierced his chest with the other. "Even though you fight against me... you could never have won." Heron grabbed the claw, trying to pull it out of its chest. The pain was overwhelming Heron's mind, he could feel his defense slowly weakening. Suddenly there was a flash, followed by a explosion of blood. Lion screamed as he stepped back, half of his right arm missing. Maeglin jumped into the room, and fired at Lion with his pistol. Lion just managed to dodge it, blood still spewing from his wound. Maeglin looked surprised at the wound of Heron, suddenly a smile spread across his face. "It seems I have a new brother." He said as he pulled out the claw and cast a healing spell on Heron.

"Now let's finish this." Maeglin said turning back to Lion, Lion's face looked inhuman ,one half was burned and the other half twisted in hate and anger. "Even though there are two of you...It won't be enough to stop me!" Lion said as he charged, Heron used a spell to enhance his speed. He managed to appear between Maeglin and Lion, he quickly placed his hand on the ground and kicked Lion up with his right leg. Lion was thrown upwards as his hatred reached a new height, no matter how much he fought he could never win... But he would never admit defeat! Lion turned to the both demigods as power was charged into his healthy hand "DIE!" He shouted as he unleashed his strongest attack, but only at the last moment did he realize that only Maeglin was standing on the ground. Heron appeared behind Lion, and chopped of his other arm. Lion let out a scream of anger as he split apart, Heron flew after him as fast as possible. "Stop" Maeglin said appearing towards Heron. "We have won, there is no need to chase him any longer."

Melanthios 26AP, 2MP

Melanthios watched the battle from up above, he wrote down everything which he saw. "Everything is happening as I predicted.. Akladai took the steps I predicted, and he lost just as I had hoped...I hope he finally learns his lesson, but what is this?" Melanthios placed two fingers on his forehead, as new knowledge started to enter his mind. "Oh.. Interesting a Republic? Well then as a caring father I should help my children."

Melanthios said as he sat down and grabbed the feather of a phoenix, and started writing his new testament. "Now let's remove these things called... Envy... Sloth....Gluttony.. And let's tone down, the need for revenge, anger, greed. And let's increase the camaraderie among the Dues Filli, increase their enjoyment of life, and make them all even more organized towards one goal, and make them all willing to live and die for their way of life....and make sure they will accept the Republic.. This will probably take me a while." Melanthios said as he kept writing. He had all the time in the world, he was free to do what he wanted now.

It had taken much longer then previously anticipated, but because of the combined effort of the new generation led by Heron, and the old generation led by Maeglin the republic was finally established. It was in the year now referred to as the first year of the third age, the age of the glorious Republic. Heron and Maeglin both led different parties, with different ideals and ways of handling things. But even then, they were the closest among the four siblings. The Republic was nothing like the Empire, and many fanatic guilds were disbanded.

Lion appeared inside one of the forgotten halls inside the library of the gods. He screamed in frustration and pain as he fell on the ground, without his arms he was almost completely useless. He then remembered a spell his father has thought him for that moment, and he cast it upon himself. Slowly his arms began to grow back as the disguise worn off, and Akladai took on his real form again. He mended his wounds as his anger still ran wild. Why was he weaker then his father?! How could he have lost to his younger brothers?! "I HATE YOU FATHER!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, as he suddenly remembered where he was.

Even in his pain stricken state, he had fled to where he felt the safest. Slowly he began to remember the millions years or so he spend here, doing nothing but training and learning from his father. And suddenly it hit him, he had become just like his father. He remembered his father when he had gone insane, and all the victims who had been claimed by his fury. She had fallen... And suddenly he realized why he was so angry all the time. His right arm had finally grown back, he drew a sharp knife and plunged it into his chest. He slowly moved it to the right, until he had found what he was looking for.

He dug his knife even deeper, and began to dig out the reason of his anger. Soon a large hole formed inside Akladai's chest, but he didn't give up until a strange purple crystal hit the ground. "That *****...I was still linked to her!" With the crystal gone he could feel the corruption and anger washing away, it was almost like he had finally awoken. He closed his eyes as he began a new spell, before he would face his father he had to remove any trace of her from his body. He used his final spell, which was sure to destroy him and rebuild him. "Soon.. I will be whole again." He said as he began to evaporate.

Melanthios was hard as work as usual when he noticed someone behind him. "I know you are there you know?" He said as he turned around to face Akladai. His face turned darker as he saw his first son, the one that had betrayed him. For a short moment he wondered which path he would take, and at that moment Akladai spoke. "Greetings father.. I can finally see your plans, and your schemes. I have mapped them all out, and with the flick of my finger everyone will know everything."

Melanthios laughed as he looked at his oldest son "Well at least you learned something from your defeat.. So what do you want?" Akladai smiled as he walked towards his father. "I want you to drop the act, you always knew it would end up like this didn't you?" Melanthios nodded slowly "I had a feeling at least.. I was never completely sure...But you being here, does that mean you are finally ready?" Akladai nodded as he placed a hand on his head, and slowly began to rip away his old appearance.

"I am ready father...I have survived the same trails as you have, and I am ready to one day keep this universe safe." Melanthios smiled as he stood up and walked towards Akladai, he hugged him and patted him on his back. "Welcome back my son.. I have missed you." Akladai hugged him back, and then stepped back. "But know one thing, I will never again be your puppet. I have mastered your craft up to the point that I can be called my own master. So don't even try to order me around, or watch me." Melanthios nodded. "Fair enough, we shall see if you are really the man you claim to be. "At that moment a letter appeared in Melanthios hand, he opened it and read it curious to its content.

Dear Melanthios,
You have been formally invited to the wedding of Roe and Petal, to be held on the seventh day of Melanthiosi in the two thousand, five hundred and sixth year of the Flower at the Entertainment Hall of the Hallowed Court. The morning ceremony will be followed by a reception and party in the afternoon with food and drink provided for. Dress can be either formal or fancy.
Regards,
Petal and Roe.

Melanthios smiled as he said. "Look they named a month after me. Well I will of course attend, will you attend too?" Akladai shook his head "I am finally free to do what I want, so I have some things I have to do first." And with that he vanished, returning to the library. "Guess it is just me and my other children then." He said sending a mental message to them all. He then teleported and appeared inside Roe's chosen place for the marriage, at the same time as his three other children. "Hello Roe my brother, allow me to congratulate you and your bride as well on this magical day." He said stretching out his hand, to shake Roe's hand while smiling. Heron placed his gift as well as Melanthios' with the others.

Aen 30/30 2/2

"A wedding? Really? Maybe I should have taught the boy that settling down was something you did after you became a hero!" Aen laughed at his own joke, though those gathered around him didn't seem to find the humor. "How could I have become surrounded by such serious companions?" he wondered aloud, though with a smile on his face. "Ah well, so be it. Now, I won't make any of you come to this wedding, except for you Sollus, though you're all welcome to come. So?" Ren barely made a notion of her not going before returning to her business being a statue, and Grix snorted.

'Perhaps I will fit into wherever they have the after party, but a dragon is no creature for a wedding.' Aen had to nod in agreement to that, so look to the last of his remaining demi-gods.

"Aleis?" The assassin turned her head away.

"I'm not so sure they want someone like me spoiling their party."

"Oh hush, you look fine. You're going to leave me with a gauntlet as my date to a wedding? Besides, you're more experienced at parties than I am. You've infiltrated your fair share, and don't act like you haven't." She sighed in defeat.

"Alright, alright. I get your point. Get changed into something more suitable and we'll go."

"... changed? I was just going to go like this..." Aleis only sighed and shook her head.

Aen ended up wearing more decorate clothes and armor, brighter and a tad more elaborate, as well as a silken cape. Judgement was strapped to his back underneath it, though his bastard was left at home. The blood flowing through Sollus gleamed white, matching with it's host. Aleis herself wore a dress of white, and her spider legs were adorned with silvery chains. They entered the Hall through the path between it and the Battlegrounds. Aen made a note of who had come, and was pleasantly surprised to see almost everyone, even Zareth, who he'd thought for sure that Death wouldn't be attending. Nivix, of course, was nowhere to be found, but there hadn't been a trace of him for almost an era, and it seemed Ven had taken up his mantle. Not in the same way that Cassiel had, but close enough. Still, he thought it best if he made sure the god was alright after all this was over. Finally, he made his way to the happy couple.

"Roe! Petal! It's good to see you! Thank you for inviting us."
