If it's like his original early-80s stage productions, it's about as far from a kid's show as you can get. Its shtick was that it PLAYED itself as a kid's show. It was so successful, a network decided to clean it up and actually make it a kid's show. But it was never intended to be that.

Man, I didn't like his show when I was a kid, and I can't honestly see anyone (kid or not) wanting to see his show now.

Paul Reubens? The guy in the WWE Raw video most definitely was NOT Reubens, there's just no way...

He's acted since then(was in Blow and Mystery Men off the top of my head) but I don't think he did the Pee Wee character again until just a few years ago.

i never saw peewee herman as it wasn't on t.v. when i was a little one, from what i hear though its beyond trippy.

also kinda off topic wasn't he arrested for something a few years back?
I believe it's either public masturbation or child porn. It's probably the former, I think he was just accused of the latter.

Either way, he's Pee Wee, it's all good. It's like Mel Gibson, the guy gave us four Lethal Weapon films, there are things I'm willing to overlook.
how do you get arrested for public masturbation? i thought the police just gave you a slap on the wrists for something like that.
To clarify, he was Masturbating in a threatre, to a pornographic movie. He got caught, got a slap on the wrist.

One problem. This was the 80's/90's, and he was a star on a childrens show.

Character assasination ensued.

He got fired, pretty much dicked out of hollywood, and vanished for a decade or two. Now it seems he's back, yay.

What people forget about Pee-wee herman is he wasn't originall a childs show guy, he was a standup comedian with a fairly vulgar set, similar to Full House Guy. He also made appearances in the Cheech and Chong movies.

As already pointed out, the original Pee Wee Herman stage show (which this is a revival of/return to) was never intended for children in the first place, so it makes perfect sense for HBO to film and air this.

He was also in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. You could just barely tell because he had long hair and a goatee. The character's death scene gave it away though.

I actually thought his show was hilarious due to the outrageous cheesiness of it all.
