Have you ever succumbed to peer pressure, and if yes, how?

For me it would be that I didn't drink until I found out that being sober at a party where everyone is somewhere between 'drunk' and 'very drunk' isn't all that much fun. Now I make sure to be between 'drunk' and 'very drunk' too, and I have to say that I'm having a pretty good time.

I can't recall any instances in particular, except when I was dared to pick a fight in a bar.

I take it you didn't fall for it. Am I right?

Yeah, I've caved to peer pressure a few times, but only when it was a thing that I wanted to do anyway. I wouldn't let someone peer pressure me into something I didn't already want to do.

I have played a game I didn't really want to because my friends pestered me to, that's about it. I am usually extremely stubborn and never fall for peer pressure on anything 'serious'.

I agree that being the only sober one sucks but I despise making a fool of myself as well as losing control so if I were to get drunk it'd be at the sort of party with only a couple of friends where everyone is crashing there.

No, I did. I ended up going to the hospital after getting a concussion from a chair shot to the back of the head.

Wow, really? What an adventurous life you must lead. How about the guy you were fighting?

Well, I only got in a few punches because his friend hit me.

Unfair. I suppose that would be cheating. Then again, can one cheat in a bar fight?

Well to be fair he picked the fight and i'm guessing the other guy wasn't looking for trouble.

I switched from Normal Science to "Accelerated Science" because my friends wouldn't shut up about it. I'm not sure if that's peer pressure, or just 'Alright, I'll do it, just shut the hell up' pressure.

When I was maybe 8 or so, my friends constantly taunted me about the fact that I wouldn't swear. They promised they'd leave me alone if I'd just say the f-word once. Well, they did stop teasing me, but 25 years later I have one of the foulest mouths I know. Thanks, guys!
Nothing wrong with swearing. It actually helps blocking pain. If you bump your toe or your head and vigorously shout 'FUUUCKKKK' it hurts less. Srsly.

About the age of six, yes I did. And it nearly got me killed. We were at a pool somewhere, and I couldn't swim worth shit. All my friends went out to the deep end and started taunting me and making fun of me because I wouldn't go out there with them. So, I followed and nearly drowned. Hooray, for peer pressure!

Oh, sure. Just blame your lack of morals and self-restraint on others. :)

Playing video games. My brother told me either I learn how to play or get the hell out of his room.

I learned how to play.

This.

I find people who give into it are quite weak minded and can't make a firm decision for themselves, the person who really matters and who the matter concerns, not your friends.
OT: I've never succumbed to peer pressure, like someone has said I wouldn't be peer pressured into something I was already going to do. Tbh, not even that is peer pressure because you've made your choice way before your friends had a chance to give their two cents on the situation.

I also find that those who would peer pressure you don't deserve the title of "friend", what kind of friend pressures you into something you may not want to do? Not a very good friend that's for sure. It's why I have such a good group of friends, they aren't full of shit.

I feel you. I'm doing the exact same thing. Though I guess a bit more money to spend can't hurt.

You forget that peer pressure can be completely unintentional. I mean, none of my friends were telling me to get drinking, but I did anyway because they did. People don't have to tell you to do something to apply peer pressure. They do so without knowing, and you can fall for it without realizing that it is peer pressure. It happens to the best of us and frankly, it isn't even a bad thing half of the time.

Then that's your own fault for thinking that. Of course you can have a good time without drinking, it's only because everyone else is doing it, it's like "omg, I want in on this, I'm going to start drinking and become comotose with my friends", which is kinda bad. Being sober is only as good as you make it on a night out. I don't drink at all and I always have a great time, but then maybe that's because my friends are great people to be around who know how to have a good time, without drink. Most of them do drink, but are not stupid enough to get drunk, or very drunk, just enough to let loose. Drunk people are just stupid and I think people who want to get drunk like them are equally as stupid, intentional or unintentional peer pressure aside, you have your own mind, use it.

I dislike most drinking games but once went out with a friend's friend group and they kinda pressured me into playing with them because hell I didnt want to be on my own and they were all like "yeah man come play its fun" "why dont you like the game its awesome, come on" etc. I got pretty drunk and still didnt enjoy it that much.

Although that was a long time ago, now I just tell them I dont want to play their games and if they dont like it...fuck 'em. Same applies to most things I dont want to do, Im pretty stubborn now.
