Pendulum Splits

Pendulum, the Australian drum and bass group (or dance rockers, choose your own genre), have split up. For those unfamiliar with the group, Pendulum are the group behind hits like 'Propane Nightmares':

Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillan have decided to focus their efforts on their side project, Knife Party, while the remaining two members will continue to do DJ sets under the Pendulum name. While they say they might return to do an album in the coming years, they have no plans to perform live any time soon.
For those unfamiliar with Knife Party, here's a song by them:

So, it seems like a hiatus to me, but it's being announced as a split around the net.
What do you think of Knife Party, or Pendulum, for that matter?

It's a good time for them to announce a split, they're produced very good music up until now, but their latest album wasn't really that different from anything they'd done before. They'll always be remembered as a band with a solid career, rather than producing their answer to St. Anger.

I disagree, Immersion was their most critically acclaimed album, and I'd say easily their most diverse and complex album, musically.

OT: It's not just remaining two members, there is still Perry the guitarist and KJ the drummer. Dunno what they're doing.

And yeah, just heard about this. Sad news.
Ah well, I saw them live twice and they were mind blowing, and their blend of totally different styles of music is still very inspirational.

In mourning, I'm blasting their stuff at very loud volume.

I have a feeling they'll come back, as I do for Fall Out Boy, but unlike FOB, their side project Knife Party is doing very well for itself, so it'll probably be quite the wait.

I have a lot to thank Pendulum for, as they basically are the sole reason I first listened to, and still listen to, electronic music. Seeing them live, and the crowd reaction and being a part of it also inspired me to become more musical, so they are definitely one of the main reasons why my primary goal in life is to be a musician in a band.

It's sad, I was planning to get into them at some point but I haven't got the chance yet. I did rather like Dawn though.

This isn't really a surprise to me. I just assumed that because Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillan had formed Knife Party that Pendulum didn't exist any more. I prefer Knife Party a lot better anyway so I think this is a change for the better.

To be fair i like pendulum alot and knife party equally so although i find knife partys stuff abit more heavy and grimey which i be loving!

Sucks, but rather they finish on a high note.

Like Esotera said, better they split now than produce lame album after lame album like Metallica.
