Recently, a girl I've known for quite some time commited suicide. She was a kind person with so much potential, and a facebook memorial page was created for her. And then a bunch of people decided to start trolling this poor girls memorial page. Someone posted it to /b/ and now they are ruining something beautiful. Sometimes I can't help but hate the part of humanity who does this kind of thing.

Sorry, I just needed to vent that.

I feel ya bro. We had the same story at our school, but I'm afraid it didn't get on /b/.
I hope someone deals with this.

I'm not sure what my stance on this is. Don't get me wrong, I feel for her friends and family, for they are suffering. But I don't agree with suicide.

And the trolls' comments are kind of funny :3

EDIT: It's quite apparent I didn't make this post clear enough. I DO NOT support what the trolls are doing. The things they're saying are doing nothing to console family and friends of the girl.

Just get whoever made the page to remove them and move on, not much else you can do because fighting with the trolls only makes things worse.

Also, sorry. Wish I was better with words.

People never stop disgusting me. Ever. This doesn't even make my list of top 10. A 12 year old was beaten to death in my town last night. By 5 other boys the same age. That makes my top 5.

Suprises, no. But it still makes me sad when it happens. I don't feel suprised when I find out someone kills another, but it still makes me sad.

Hate to say it, but you asked for this. You don't create a facebook page for someone's suicide. Do the funeral thing or something. If there's anything/anyone you genuinely care about, keep it the hell away from the internet.

Just ignore them, trolls thrive on attention. I tried fighting at first but now I just can't be bothered, it just emboldens them to be bigger annoyances. I am not a big fan of the whole someones infallible after they die but I try to keep my criticisms away from those who will be offended (e.g. family and close friends) especially on tribute sites, other you are just an ass.

People shouldn't create memorial facebook pages, or fail to moderate them for this reason. People sometimes forget Facebook is part of the larger internet as a whole, and unless you protect your information, it's going to be available to everybody, for good or ill.

Yes, the trolls are assholes, but that's not surprising. Be a responsible Facebook user and make the group or whatever it was an invite-only group,or moderate it.

You can either;
1: Laugh, then move on.
2: Don't laugh, then move on.

I'd imagine option 2 would suit you best. Take it. Getting angry at something you can't change is the biggest waste of time since... well... ever. Its the biggest waste of time ever.

Wise words, truly.

Who ever is the Administrator for the page should just disable posts for a while. Also I agree, this is insane.

Yeah, not giving a crap because someone that you didn't know offed themselves is one thing, throwing it in a place someone set up to remember that person is a bit much.

Hell, who am I kidding, they came for the lols.

It's so easy when you can hide behind a computer screen. Most of these people would never act like this in real life because they know some type of violence would befall them.

Yeah sorry but I have to agree with this. Anything put on the internet can and will be ruined. Also, there are much more meaningful ways to mourn for someone than make a facebook page. Still, suicide is a tragic thing and it is wrong for people to make jokes from it. Sorry for your loss.

Not to troll or anything, but I never understood putting RIP on facebook and someone liking the message. I mean yeah, i get that you are liked the idea they RIP, but that doesnt change the fact that youre liking that someone died.

...

I dont know. Im not saying you shouldnt or that people that make fun of this kinda stuff are wrong, and I get the reason for putting something like RIP on a page, but it always just seemed weird to me.

More OT, This doesnt shock me, and is why these kinda pages should be made private. You're not doing any good arguing with the /b/ crowd, and in the end you'd save yourself the trouble of someone making this public (Like the OP did, not that they were wrong to do so) and some dick coming across it and deciding to be a dick on that page.

I love it when stuff like this comes up.

You always have the obligatory retards spouting stuff like
" People who do this should have their (insert body part here) smashed with a (insert large object here) "

Really?

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Personally, if facebook and the like are still around when I die, I WANT someone to start a page up so they can make terrible jokes about how I died.

If it makes someone laugh, so be it, i'll be dead.

Trolls like these really lack a sense of boundary in what they do. It's taking trolling to far. However, really the only thing to do is moderate their comments and not show any signs of getting upset over it. If you start making a big thing about it, then your just feeding them and then they win even more.
