Actually not a fan of the concept of auteurship. Namely because people make games, not a person. Peter Jackson has his name on Lord of the Rings, but I can't remember a movie other than LotR that he made where I thought it was remotely as good. Let's also not forget that the Star Wars prequels were made when George Lucas was the uncontested auteur behind the movie. In the IV and V I seem to remember that there was a lot of things that people did contrary to what he wanted, and largely for the better.
That being said I still like seeing credit where credit is due. Publicize what specific people put into games. That tells you far more about the person than that they've been credited with the movie as a whole. Plus it gives you an idea of what to expect when you see their name on something. If you see that one of the concept artists in a game where you liked the art is involved in another game you'll have an idea of what to expect from that game. Just crediting the guy who's name has been plastered on the game is not fair everyone else who helped shape the game, and it also really doesn't tell you much about what you should expect from them in another game their name has been plastered on
