My friends and i read online comics (i'll be honest it is manga) but i seem to read the darker side of things while my friends read naruto and one piece and other DBZish stuff. (you fight enemy, enemy beats you, you get stronger, you beat enemy, lets go have a BBQ)

Now when i mentioned i finished a series called Battle Royale one of my friends immediately judged it (cause he'd read like the first three volumes.) It's weird/retarded because one of the characters is attacked (and raped...) and so he thinks it's a bad series. Now i'm not protesting rapist rights, but i think that one scene doesn't define a series and that it is the characters that define it. I just think that people sharing their souls so intimately is an amazing and profound thing, thus making Battle Royale a good series.

Now i'm just wondering my friend immediately sees the dark in things, while i tend to see both sides and judge on neither (i'm usually on the defending end of most villains in movies and such with him) And i'm wondering. Does anyone else see things from both perspectives?
