I'm not gonna drag this out. I'm a young adult Agnostic who's dragged to my parent's Pentecostal church 3 days a week (2-3 hours each visit). We broadcast the videos over the internet daily. I hate it and I enjoy making fun of it at all cost (Txting on my phone to my friends about the nonsense). I tell my mom that my pals are interested and that I'd want to show them my church (Har har).

Today, I gave the website to friends of mine so that they could laugh at what I had been experiencing. The site has a group chatroom so that people can talk about the sermon while it's happening. My two friends decided to be funny and post crazy comments on the chat and pose with fake names.

About 10 minutes later I receive a text from my friend.
He had put my church's site on...well...a dangerous site.

Next thing I know, my parents are freaking out because there are dozens of people flame my church's site, spreading "Hail Satan!" about and talking about inappropriate things. They're trying to figure out how it happened. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to know that my parents are thinking that I'm the main suspect.

Any advice?

Similar thing happened on a 5th grade teacher's website at my school.

There's really nothing you can do now. You could either confess, and hope they understand, or try to cover it all up and lie your way through, which would be ironic.

Ouch. But, from your friends point of view, I probably would have done the same. My guess is to wait it out, wait for all the spammers and flammers and stuff like that to stop, while trying to avoid falling into the guilt of it. If they don't go away in a month or so, make a new website.

If they press you, just tell them you gave it to one of your friends that you thought would be interested and that that's all you know.

Unless you won't be able to talk to your friends afterward. If that's the case, just don't say anything.

Rules one and two.

OT: I don't mean to be the prophet of doom, but if worst comes to worst, you're pretty much screwed. If they had a good time, there's a very good chance they'll become regulars, popping in whenever they get bored.

EDIT: For example, take Tom Green's "show". There's nightly raids being organized via IRC every time he broadcasts, with people sending police, pizza and male escorts to his house while they bombard his phone lines with memes and obscenities.

It (hopefully) will remain a chatroom-only thing, but keep in mind that when chantards smell blood in the water, there will be hell to pay.

There are images of my parents and myself on that site! I don't want to be on the "internet"!

I'd suggest active moderation. If you play whack-a-mole with them long enough without giving any sign of breaking, they'll get tired awfully fast.

However, if you prove to be a particularly juicy target, there's an impressive chance that those pictures of you and your parents will end up being photoshopped into obscenities, the likes of which you've never witnessed. Also, your contact info? I'd suggest taking it down.

All it takes is one intrepid chantard to send you forty boxes of pizza or bombard your home phone with death threats.

Well, that's all assuming raids still happen the way they used to... I've put my internet-marauding days behind me.

If they ask you, fess up, as lying will only make it worse.

As for it they don't ask, people will leave the site alone if the flamers are ignored.

Was the "dangerous site" 4chan bu any chance?

I'd say that this is the best form of action. Have the church take down all contact information. If possible, they should even take down the chat box. Any thing that could be interacted with in a negative way should go down: pictures, personal contact information (things like non-main emails could stay for the pastor and staff to be contacted if they really want). Don't give 'em anything to play with.

I'd suggest telling the church, annonymously , perhaps (oh, the irony!), to NotOT take their address off of the website, as anybody who wants it already has it, and doing so will just send the message that they don't want to be messed with, which is what will happen shortly thereafter. You should also tell them to advise people, in person, not to make a fuss about this, as it will only make things worse.

If lulz are not forthcoming, the trolls will go to greener pastures.
You make a good point. I didn't think of it that way.

Don't worry, my guess is if they are form the internet, they are probably far away. I doubt that any of them would go as far ads to go to the church.

All the real /b/ tards know rule 1 and 2 only apply to raids, sheesh.

Ignore it, its not your fault, it will blow over.

Whats more important is getting you out of that church in the first place.

No, it's trap!

Seriously, doing this will just let people know that these people are being bothered, which will just provide more encouragement. If nothing happens, then everything will blow over in a couple of days.

My parents own the church. Out of the church means out of the house. :(
I need to invest in an apartment.

Just so I can derail this, why are your parents making you go to church anyways? Is there anything that could convince them to let you go less frequently? Could I ask any more questions?
