Why are people getting this worked up over fictional characters that don't actually exist? It's like some can't distinguish between fantasy and reality and want to impose standards of reality on fiction.

Hey guys, I just got this in my mail today.

"Dear West,

We have different cultures.
The things that offend you don't necessarily offend us.

Love,
East."

I'm still trying to figure it out, but we'll get there. That's a promise.

I got this far before I decided I have to post. It's been almost a year and half (or something), I've stopped paying my pub club dues and you forced me back into this... I hope you're happy.
I just wanted to say, I don't know how long you've been here, and I don't really care but you're not going to be of any help anywhere and no one will like you here if all you do is point out flaws in people's arguments and correct them all the time.
Correcting faulty arguments is not going to "be of any help anywhere"? That's a strange position to take.
If the conversation and/or disagreement has to do with the subject matter of the thread then it is fitting to include it in the thread. The issue comes when the conversation goes into minutia of definitions and straws from the original content of the thread (a known form of derailing a thread).

This can be incremental so it's hard to pinpoint exactly when a line of conversation strays from the original point but when it does it is best to then carry that conversation to a private message.

It's easier when you take a thread out of context and see if it fits with the original article, your above post is about yourself and has nothing to do with the dialog and it would be courteous of you and others to carry on through private messages as such to not cloud of the thread for more meaningful conversations.

Of course this is not in any written rules for the Escapist, this is just expected decent posting etiquette.

I meant that as in, "If you go around correcting people's arguments, they're going to think you're just being a dick to others for the sake of it." It won't get you respect, and in a lot of cases people will just start ignoring you, even if you have a good point.

The best part is how they'll all shake their heads in disbelief, commenting on the absurdity of it and then quickly rush off to the top secret underground distribution center where they can buy it without anyone noticing.
Well, not me, I'll take my pervy games with a controller, thank you.

As for this actual topic: From the footage I've seen that looks like no game I'd like to play. It might even be 'pervy' but I really dislike the general tone of the article too. Then again, I haven't come across a great many articles on this site that actually manage to put up a veil of neutrality let alone actually be genuine attempts at objectivity (I maintain that actual objectivity is hard if not impossible to attain) Instead what I see here is yet another sensationalist headline to get pageviews.

What I guess I'm saying is that there isn't alot of information on the actual game and alot of opinion on what is 'thought' to be shown which is actually very little.

In short: don't like the article and that game looks like a VR dating sim, not my piece of cake but totally ok for others to have in my book.
Eh I have to agree, the general tone of this site has certainly shifted to a more opinions based style then as an objective reporting of the news style. This would be fine but it is a little jarring when there is no shift between this and say the cold fact-reporting style of say their report on a new phone or piece of PC equipment.

I thought ANN did a better job reporting just the facts:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-09-03/tekken-series-director-shows-project-morpheus-vr-headset-summer-lesson-demo/.78285

I don't fault the Escapist for running with a more opinions based writing style, while I personally like a more cut-and-dry news reporting style many people come for the personalities and opinions of the writers.

I was gonna make a valid statement about this topic but I can see my cat trying to slowly creep up and then eat my food. I have to stop him before he does, otherwise I might kill him.

EDIT

Stopped my cat, my jimmies are now unrustled. Unlike the people who saw the the demo.
