Pessimism and Optimism.

Pessimist, all the way.
If something goes right in my life, I can thankfully be proven wrong of my pessimism.
Otherwise, if something goes wrong, I'm not surprised.

I'm rarely upset about how things turn out because I already expect them to fail. Thus, when things work out, happiness is multiplied.

Neither. I am a realist. That "golden middle" between pessimism and optimism.

In my experience, realism is just qualified pessimism.

I prefer optimism. I mean, you don't have to make decisions based on your outlook, so why not just feel better all the time.

Hmmm...

Normally, I'm naive and optimistic, but when shit goes bad, I become really pessimistic.

I then assume the worst case scenario. That way, if it does happen, I will be prepared, and if I'm wrong, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Definitely an optimist. I don't always think everything is going to turn out well, but I always seem to think of "at least [x, y, z]!" before anything else.

Neither. I weigh up a situation and if the evidence shows that it'll most likely go well I'll think positively about it, if it's most likely going to go poorly I'll think negatively about it. I suppose if I had to pick one I'd lean every so slightly to the pessimistic side, but not nearly enough to call myself a pessimist.

I'm now an optimist with occasional bouts of pessimism.

I found being a pessimist wasn't fun and it started causing me some problems. Also I'm surounded by pessimists at home and the negativity gets old real fast.

I like to hope for the best, but I tend to fear for the worst. But I don't base my life around either. I mean, I don't leave the house with three knives and a brick in my bag because I think people will murder me given the chance (for no reason), but I don't wander down dark alleys at night relying solely on the kindness of strangers not to rob/mug and stab me.

I'm often pessimistic although I'll find myself being optimistic sometimes. I would have said I'm a realist but frankly it's hard to tell what is real or meaningful to me anymore therefore I can't really say that.

I'm an optimist. Being pessimistic just seems like an awful way to live. It seems to me that there's a good deal of self-fulfilling prophecy when it comes to pessimistic people. You expect the worst in people, so you're more likely to treat them coldly and more likely to see the worst from them as a result. Or you're just more likely to not notice the good. Maybe you're pragmatic. Maybe not. I just don't see the benefit. It just seems like a worldview that leads to a shitty life.
