We all know there are some gameplay mechanics or parts of a game that become a nuisance whenever they appear.

So, what are your biggest pet peeves when it comes to gameplay mechanics, etc?

For me, I'd say:
>Poorly implemented/unnecessary/insubstantial QTEs: While I loved the PoP reboot, the damn Warrior QTE was ridiculous.
>Arbitrary/non-arbitrary timed sections; sure, they are supposed to give a sense of urgency but merely force all players to conform to a reckless strategy. I am the kind of person who would prefer to pick off guards one by one silently, rather than be forced to storm through them a la the timed portion in CoD4.
>Escort quests in which the enemies all go after the person you are escorting/the person you are escorting is made of wax paper in terms of health.

-Escort quests where the person you are escorting goes running off after you fight off some ambush and gets killed by some random bear
-QTE's in cut scenes, I put down the controller and then bam...my person is now dead
-Really hard boss fights, where I will die a few times, but the long cut scene right before the fight is unskippable
-Turn based combat where the fights are so easy I just hold a or x until the fight it over, I'd rather every battle take a lot of planning to get through or not make it turn based

Escort quests where the idiot takes the most unnecessarily dangerous route they can think of. I'm thinking of WoW, in Terokkar Forest. I find a captured Tauren in a building on the very outskirts of an unwalled hostile town. The escape route she chooses is directly through the centre of the town, because that's the way the road goes. Don't follow the road! Just turn right around and leave!

Escort missions, timed missions, driving sections when the vehicles handle like a drunken buffalo.

I see that in lots of games but WoW does it really blatantly. It's like you'll see a path with no enemies and another that's swarmed with them, but you just know they're going to take the swarmed path.
