Looking at the pictures coming out of the new Spider-Man movie, one thing has me bothered. Why is it that Peter doesn't look like a nerd?

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/peter-parker-and-gwen-stacy-come-home-in-photos-from-spider-man-s-new-york-shoot-24486.html

In this pic he doesn't look so much like a science nerd who likes to take pictures as one of any number of semi-scene douche bags i come into contact with every weekday from 8-3 at school. What are your thoughts on this?

Actually, I never thought of that!

You're very right.
See, I just...I dunno, I really liked...Toby McGwire? [...or something like that xD] as Spidey; for me, that's who he is.
...if that...makes sense...
...

Either way, not looking forward to the reboot.

There's going to be another spider man movie, eh he does not look like the nerd they described to me in the comic books but I don't care what he looks like. As long as he is a decent actor that doesn't give me the urge to kill him, then I'm okay with him.

Still pretty nerdy to me.

once you get out to school you will realize that some nerds dress decently and don't carry pocket protectors.

some of them can ever talk to girls without getting a nose bleed or becoming this guy.

he doesn't look remotely like any peter parker i"ve ever seen before. Though really, the animated cartoon of spiderman is the only spiderman I admit exists.

All I know is that the man in those pictures does not look like a nerd, he merely looks like a douchebag who wants to look like a nerd because he thinks it is fashionable. It seems like they have tried to make him more likeable to the average person, in that ridiculous Hollywood way of not understanding the average person at all.
