i hope no one on this thread takes offence to this but am i the only one here who thinks that keeping animals as pets that can't be domesticated (e.g. exotic/tropical reptiles, exotic/tropical amphibians) is a little cruel. they have to be kept in tanks at most times, and like i said before, they can't be domesticated like most mammals, and unlike most insects or arachnids they will notice the difference between their natural habitat and a tank, unless of course you are willing to invest in a really big tank.[/quot

You're partly right, if the animal is wild caught then yes it is sort of cruel to keep them as pets. However, if the animal is captive bred like my snake (who is a several generation captive bred) than a tank is all it has known and perfectly happy as long as they are fed and get lots of love and handling*.

*if you get an adult be sure to make sure that the animal has been handled on a regular basis before you attempt to handle him/her yourself.

Get a Pug. Trust me, they are the best buddy dogs in the world, and don't worry about them jumping, since they are too short to do so!

Sorry, but cats are the best gamer pet. All mine does is laze around in my lap or in the corner.

A cat. All mine does is sleep, eat, go outside to poop, eat and then sleep some more.

Get a friend with a low IQ, at least you can play games with ...it. You might just have to clean up a few beer cans and what not.

I like cats ... so that doesn't help you very much ...

So how about a bearded dragon? They're like Iguanas only more people friendly [or at least that's what I've come to understand] They're also somewhat smaller than Iguanas and snakes
Yes, bearded dragons are the way to go. They're small but can grow to be relatively large. They're also very fun to take care of in my opinion.
A mate of mine had a three year old bearded dragon which was about the same size as a small iguana. So, depending on how long they live and how much they eat, they [/I]could[/I] smaller than iguanas and snakes XD
But yeah, beardies are great. They've got great personality, and can be incredibly nosey, but most of the time they'll just sit there.

... but I dont want a cat who will be jumping around...
My cat just lazes around all day.

It's the Kittens that jump around.
Try adopting an older cat.
I'd go with this, older cats are chilled out, and will be affectionate but not too in your face.
This is the way to go my pet-searching friend.

i know that if the animal has been bred in captivity then it is all it knows, and it's not like i have very strong feelings about this or anything like that, it's just that the fact of the matter is that that animal is still stuck in a glass box.

it just makes me feel sad whenever i see one in a tank, whats wrong with watching a david attenborough documentary instead, domesticated pets are cheaper and easier to take care of, and if you must have something exotic or tropical then why not an arachnid or a large insect.

Get TWO older cats that have been neutered or spayed (this calms them down) at least 4 years old, and get them a cat tower. This gives them a good place to be "high" in the room without knocking your shit over - our living room is 90 percent shelving with collectibles EVERYWHERE but the cats have their tower and don't knock over anything. OR get two young cats from a local breeder or breed-specific-rescue - I really recommend Manxes or Maine Coons.

You can make a cat tower easy from carpet scraps and spools and two-by-four discards you can get for nearly free from Home Depot or the like. And I say two cats, because they can give each other the affection they need when you're too busy or the like.

Ive got a cat and she enjoys sitting next to me when I play. She knows I'll pet her when I get a respawn counter. If I get on a kill streak though, she gets impatient and starts prodding my arm with her head. Though, for the most part shes pretty chill. She sleeps all day and all night.

Cats won't jump in your face unless you have food. Otherwise they sit in an armchair, glare at you, and occasionally demand to be stroked.
