Phoenix Wright 3: Trials and Tribulations

The PW series is one of my personal favorites, and as #3 is widely considered to be the best in the trilogy... I'm certainly excited.

I can't find the first one.

But that said, everything I've heard about the game is fantastic and I'm interested to see what they've got coming next.

You SHOULD play the first one before the second (at least, it makes it a more complete experience) but they are self-contained games--I know plenty of people who played Justice For All before Ace Attorney. Of course, they're clearly CommuNazis, but that shouldn't matter much.

As for what they've got coming? Well, it's been out on GBA (in Japan only) for a while, so we know that what they've got coming is copious amounts of awesome-sauce.

I played the second Trauma Center on Wii before the first one on DS. The style of that and PW feel very similar, so I imagine it'll work. Still want to play first one.

I've been playing the first one (check the bargain bin, Andraste) and loving it. Can't wait to get the rest of the series.

I think she has the first one now; doubtless the result of some totally awesome and studly altruist who couldn't help but take pity on a poor soul in need.
