I have the Sony Erisson Xperia (Smartphone). The plus side is that it's quite narrow for a smartphone but this is good so that at least it keep the similar size to a mobile phone. Granted this is a double edged feature aswell as it make it difficult for playing certain games aswell like Angry Bird (the game screen is smaller due to the narrow side).

Other than that plus the rest is cons like the battery life mostly bad at the moment (at times the battery life drain within two hours when it reach 50% despite I haven't used the phone at all) and the memory size is bad for what is it (I mean it should of been bigger).

Also the phone lose signel everytime I worked in the store I'm in eventhought everyone else phones worked perfectly fine within that store.

Before you asked why don't I get a new one well I'm the type who rarely used the phone at all (I only bought it cos my parent keep insisting that I should keep up with the technology time, expecting I will be using my phone in office related work) so I just bare with it for the time being.

Not bad. Things come in clear, people can hear me and all that. I don't really have phone conversations that last more than a few minutes though, so it might get unwieldy after a while.
That's good to know, for future reference. I mean, I just got an S4 so I doubt I'm changing phones any time soon, but for whenever I need to next upgrade.

For longer calls I use a bluetooth headset anyway. I usually don't bother for quick calls, so that's what I'd mostly worry aboot.

Ugh I hate all dat shit. I won't lie, I used to be an Apple hater but I can't exactly ignore reality. My uncle who's a complete computer noob has been using the same mac book for almost 10 years so obviously Apple is doing something right. Not to mention their computers aren't made of cheap parts so the Apple hater "$1000 sticker" is nothing but hyperbole. On the other end of the spectrum, I don't like Apple's policies and their computers are still a few hundred bucks more expensive than a similarly speced Windows machine plus I need Windows because its generally compatible with more software. Not to mention the Apple cult is extremely off putting when they think that Steve Jobs invented the wheel. Then there's the people who built a freaking desktop which is about as complicated as connecting the dots and think their genius high end users and yet won't even look at a piece of tech unless it runs Windows 7. I'm a fan of companies like HTC, Sony, and Google cause they make shit I like, not cause they're superior

I feaquently look up phone news so this mentality is especially annoying cause there's some kind of rivalry between people who like the HTC One and people who like the Galaxy S4 even though they're both great phones with a pretty balanced pros and cons list
Indeed. I like the Galaxy line and will probably stick with it barring a serious fuckup from Samsung, but The comparable HTC line seems perfectly competent. I went down to the line on my decision of phone when I got an S2, and have more stuck to it because of familiarity than any sort of superiority. The S3 was similar with improvements, and the S4 was...Well, to be honest, I got it discounted because Sprint lost my S3, and I wanted to "future proof" my phone as much as can be done in this modern society so I chose the S4 instead of the S3. The iPhone seems cool, but I didn't like the screen size and I prefer the expandable storage of most Droid phones. Sony seems to have a decent line, too, though I was less interested in that than either the HTC or the Galaxy S line.

But they all seem like good choices, so I don't get the hate for someone not picking what I picked. I was happy just to have a phone that worked: I'd had my Instinct since launch and only upgraded when my phone was pretty much dead. The upgrade to Android was seriously welcome, though, because APP STORE!

...Which would have been fine with an iOS device, too. In fact, I'm a little jealous they get Plants vs Zombies 2 first.

I'm sticking with Samsung for now, they have a few benefits others don't provide:
-They're developer friendly (unless your provider is a ***** like AT&T), so they always come with an unlocked bootloader. Don't like the Samsung customization? Install a clean CM10.1 or a rom based on it, with a custom kernel and it will fly.
-The audio chip in them is really kickass. It is capable, high quality with a good frequency response. Root it, install Voodoo Sound and pop up the gain to +5 dB, even the biggest headphones will be as loud as you want, without distortion.
-They are usually big and light. Plastic may turn some people off, but if you drop them, a lot of metallic phones redirect strain to the gorilla glass on impact - which in turn shatters them without mercy. Ouch.

and Android is generally awesome to me, because I can root it anytime I want, I can install homebrew on it, without messing with the warranty, SSH'ing into it, etc.

I would maybe try a non-QWERTY Blackberry, but the issue with those is the company is really going down the drain, but the BB OS 10 is rather impressive, I'd just have no use for it if the whole company went bust.

At the moment I own a Galaxy S i9000 (didn't really need to switch, it's pretty adequate for my needs and since it has a custom 4.2.2 ROM that's faster than most people's official one, everyone who's seen it in use was impressed) and a Galaxy Tab 10.1. Between those, a Samsung ARM Chromebook and my quad core ivy i7 laptop, I think I have enough power on the go.

I can call and text. Internet? I can check my mail, if I try very hard. It has GPS, I am happy with that.

I don't particularly like smartphones. I've made it a habit to not talk to someone who's using his phone, because I think it's the height of bad manners if you're just staring at the screen. It's an expensive fragile toy that happens to be a phone as well. I can understand why people like them, but I don't need one.

A comic about smartphones in the paper this morning:
"But you're living NOW as well, right?"
"No. I am here, but I don't live here."
