I'm taking a level 2 course in photography, and I've hit a barrier. I need to write something on the work of other photographers that have inspired me. In the words of the paper I've been given: "Research the images of photographers working on themes similar to the 'areas' chosen" (landscape photography) and "describe those photographers' methods and use of visual language"

I have no idea how to approach this, and I have to hand it in tomorrow else I fail. My teacher has told me to "print some photos of other photographers and write something about those photos" but he hasn't given me any guidance on what I am expected to write about. Can I just pluck a few famous landscape photographers off google and write what I think of their work, or are they expecting me to talk about what aperture, shutter speed and the like they used? Because I chose to write about Ansel Adams, and while I can find plenty of photos by him, I cant find any information about them (like what aperture and shutter speed were used)

I'm not asking for someone to write it for me, but if anyone taking photography at a higher level than me could just point me in the right direction I would vastly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I'm done with the graphic design curriculum at my college and I've taken a number of fotog classes.

My suggestion would be to get as in-depth as possible with your critiques of Adams' work and try to guess shutter and aperture, then attempt to find similar images from his body of work in relation to shutter and aperture.

You could also get a bit of content from comparing subject matter of his early to later work. I think 'research images' is just a 'write about it in any way you can'.

I hope this helps.

One last note would be to take Adams and contrast him with another landscape photographer ... it would only require like 2 images from each artist.

And, as always with art papers, remember to BS just like you would in critique :D.
