Ok. So I have been learning super mario bros on the piano for my solo performance GCSE coursework at school, and I recently found a score for the stargate SG-1 theme.

I have discovered to my delight that I am, as my teacher describes, "A talented pianist with quite a bit of skill".

This came as quite a shock to me as mario was the first piece I ever played on piano.

I have also discovered a want to learn a few pieces on piano, but I don't want to treat it seriously like lessons or whatever.

So, my question to you is, does anyone know a website where I can get piano scores for popular tv themes or game themes or even popular pieces for free, either download or just to view online?

Thanks a lot, any help is appreciated.

By the way, I have googled, and can't find much. I am asking here in case anyone does know and I just haven't found it.

Here, some links for you!

http://www.steamgames.com/v/img/whatsnew/StillAlive.pdf - Yeah.. guess what
http://www.benlandis.com/sheet-music.htm - music from games as well as a piece which will never give you up.
http://www.pianothemes.com/games.html - random game themes (doesn't seem to be working correctly atm)

Hope that helps.

Edit:
And this one: http://www.gamemusicthemes.com/
Edit2:
You might want to check out this (found on digg): http://www.pianosolo.it/en/2008/08/09/spartiti-per-pianoforte-gratis-di-videogiochi/

I don't supposed you could post a recording of you playing the SG-1 theme on YouTube, could you?

Edit: Also, the video game music link appears to be dead. Nothing I've tried to click on works.

Edit Two: While I was typing that, the link vanished anyway. :p

Most print is copyrighted but some standards are free.

wikifonia.com has free lead sheets, they only have the melody and chords but you can make up the rest =)

Would you like to record yourself playing those pieces and put them up on the Escapist? We'd love to see what you can do!

I removed a link containing guitar tabs.. I have no idea whatsoever how it ended up among favs (I don't play the guitar). There are some piano tabs among them.. but I prefer sheets.

I think my laptop's built in cam program has an option to directly upload to youtube...I will see what I can do. I hope I can...I would love to show off my random new skill. I have mario down completely, but not stargate yet. I am like 4 bars from finishing though (at half-speed)!. Only been doing it a week, so I am still quite pleased with my progress.

As the Germans might say... Danke schon!

Thanks a lot for those links, I will check some out as soon as I have finished stargate. Into favorites they go!

If you'd like to upload to the Escapist please do so in this thread,

You'll see why when you go into it. I hope you like my piano playing!

If you're looking for a score in particular, post the name here and someone will probably be able to help you find it.

Even if the "real" scores are copyrighted and unavailable/out of print you can find fan adaptations with enough indications to get started. Only thing is sometimes they're a bit hard to find. (once I had to use the wayback machine on a ?chinese? site to get one)

I never have any problems just with using Google. I can almost always find everything I want.
