Piercings

In my opinion i think you should take someone as who they are not what they look like, so what if someone has a face full of metal, wat difference does it make to them as a person, same goes for tattoos, i think it's stupid that women should be allowed ear piercings in jobs but men are told to take them out. I realise there should be limits in that respect but how in anyway does the way someone looks affect their job unless it's for hygiene reasons?

i have 2 holes in each ear and my right ear i have a piercing in the upper cartalidge...and on guys, i think it is soooo sexy when they have their lip or eyebrow pierced....

I have three in my left ear ((regular lobe piercings)) and my septum. used to have the tongue done, but i took it out for like 30 seconds and the blasted thing closed.

Piercings are okay - people who like them, like them and they are free and should feel free to express themselves without ridicule.

I don't have any piercings myself (and I don't intend to ever get any), but I do know several people with more piercings than just earrings. I also understand why some people might not like piercings, principly for these reasons:

1) They look painful. I know GETTING a piercing can be painful, and I also know that after a while the pain goes away, but just looking a piercings makes me feel squemish - human beings generally don't go around with bits of metal inbedded in their flesh and seeing that sort of thing instinctively reminds me of pain.

2) They've been demonised - during the 80's, with Reagan in the White House, Americans, and by extension Hollywood, dreaded the rising of gangs and violence and drug wars. Having piercings was seen as being a "gang member" who went around eating the livers from dead babies. Ever seen that movie "Death Wish 3"? Where Charles Bronson goes around killing ANYONE with more than two piercings and dyed hair? Many people still think that if someone has a lot of piercings, they must be violent or wierd. I know that's not the case, but many still think that way.

I absolutely love scaffold piercings so I think it'd be awesome if you did end up doing it =D

Some are ok but it really depends some people go over board and do look stupid like plugs for example I think are disgusting or either the person just has way to many piercings.

Aslong as they are too plentyful in one place or to deforming to take out(i.e. plugs) and don't get in the way I wouldn't have a problem with them although if you have lots on your lower ear they end up like windchimes.

they LOOK painful but really aren't. they were maybe tender for a few minutes and a bit tender for the next day or two, after that they don't hurt at all. i've had piercings in 2 of the 3 most painful places and they weren't that bad

if you can bite your tongue hard for more than 10 seconds you've caused yourself more pain than a tongue piercing does

So far i only have a piercing in my left ear lobe, but I'm planing to get two or three in each ear, one in one of my eyebrows and one in my nose. But too many and too big/extreme piercings just look disgusting.

I have my nipples and 2 nape peircings, I would like more but I have to keep all my tattoo's and peircings hidden under a dress shirt ( work related ).

I have my ear lobes double pierced (although I rarely wear all 4, normally it's two or none), a hoop in my right ear's cartilage (that I couldn't get out if I tried), a bellyring (always in) and I have my nose pierced. I normally just wear a little stud, but occasionally wear a hoop. My boyfriend isn't a fan of the hoop so it doesn't come out too often. and I have to take it out for work sometimes.

I think I'm done with piercings. I considered getting my lip done once... but I backed out in the end.

I've moved on to tattoos now. Yay!

I wouldn't expect much open mindedness when it comes to things like this on these forums.

Ears, eyebrow, lip and tongue I don't mind.

I dislike stretched ears, nose piercings or simply too many of them.

I am talking aesthetically, people can have whatever they like and I won't judge them on it.

Lip piercings would make kissing and eating awkward.

Speaking from someone who has kissed a girl with lip and tongue piercings, no it doesn't.

I never found piercings very...appealing. I haven't even gotten my ears pierced, let alone any other part of my body. Could someone try to explain to me what a normal person who likes piercings finds appealing to them. I just never got it :x
