I'm not sure how many cricket fans are to be found on this board, but as there are a good few Brits and Aussies around there must be some so here goes.
As predicted the ECB crowned Kevin Pietersen England captain yesterday, so was this a wise decision or was another player more deserving, Strauss, Cook or Key perhaps?
Personally I wish KP all the best but I'm worried the extra responsibility may affect his batting. When Vaughan was made captain he was England's best batsman by a mile however when he became captain his form went to pot. If this were to happen to big Kev the team would be in big trouble. There's also the question of Pietersen's temperament, something underlined by his irresponsible shot to get out on 94 against South Africa at the weekend. Personally I'd have preferred Strauss or even Rob Key as a Brearley-esque specialist captain, but hopefully my fears will be allayed and KP will be lifting the urn next summer!
