I understand that in Kenya, games must be ridiculously overpriced.
This is simply because there is not a large enough consumer base to make large scale retail viable.

By the same token, however, this lack of a consumer base means that piracy in an impoverished country will do very little to hurt multi-million dollar companies' profits.

What should concern you is the fact that pirates are criminals and the fact that money generated from piracy is funnelled into other criminal endeavours, and in volatile countries this could mean that the money goes towards terrorism or illegal drug manufacturing.

You seem to be greatly mistaken about software piracy works. How can you possibly fund terrorism from an activity that DOESN'T INVOLVE MONEY?

You can go to any large city and buy pirated games + movies for $2 each. The money made from that goes towards organized crime and other things, just like drugs. Why wouldn't terrorists be doing this? I mean, they need a source of income, right?

Piracy isn't a crime at all. There are companies who deserve my money, and there are companies who don't deserve a fucking cent. Plain and simple. Going after downloaders and uploaders is fucking pointless.

Piracy =/= Thievery.
Used games are just as "wrong" as pirated games, in the sense of loss of money.
Downloading a game = borrowing a game from buddy. Is borrowing the latest NHL game to see what it's like illegal?

Piracy is only illegal right now as the laws haven't caught up with actual society. There will be a change, it's only a matter of when.

yer the whole thing is messed i total understand games cost alot money to make and there certain companies i support just there also alot games are rubbish wouldn't pay to support. secondly games are out on the net before there realised and so easy to do with people being poor do to are current economic depression so quite people are struggling for money are you surprised they turned to "piracy"(still feels wrong calling it that)

also i think games should be looking at other sorts of funding like the tv and film industries uses so there can be more creative uses of funding. also dlc is good way to make money i think
? also other places are getting ripped off for example when the ps3 came out here in the uk they did a thing in a magazine which compared the price of the ps3 around the world and uk it cost the most why because they thought could charge more and get away with it(also wasnt back cat compatible like the the japs or the usa's version)! some of the games industry people are greedy

If you're still not with the times and buying boot DVD's or filmed from the back of the cinema then that can sometimes fund other crimes, because those you usually have to pay for.

I'm not sure how the criminal world works, but if a pirated DVD is now in circulation, there will probably be some criminal behind it waiting for all of the salesmen to give him his cut.

Sometimes the story of the sale is more intresting than the film itself....

Side-note:Funny... I was watching the documentary "The Corporation" the other day. At the end of the movie, Micheal Moore said "Corporations don't care about the content of their product. (As long they don't lose money)." In other words, if I was against the Corporation idea, piracy would be a good thing?

yer well thing is the games industry is bit more complex than that because there companies who try to to innovate and make the best game they can and there ea and Lucas arts (admittedly Lucas arts made some good games along time ago)the thing the companies who try go bust most of the time and one ten make it big so whole seems to be pumping out trash that people will buy

a) They might want to uninstall it and install it again at a later time to make space for other games/programs.
b) They might (like me), want to play it sometime after they have completed it and uninstalled it.
c) They might have to reinstall windows more than once or gets new computers.
d) They have more computers in the house and might want to install it on all of them.

An example: Tachyon. This is one game that I have installed many times (closing in on 5 times) another example could be Baldurs Gate 2 or Planescape: Torment.

I have many games that I have installed more than 3 times due to some of the circumstances mentioned above so I would be very angry if a game could only be installed a certain number of times.

I generally never play EA games anymore, and I refuse to buy anything with DRM on it.

However, Battlefield 2 I had to reinstall atleast i think maybe 10 or 12 times, due to crappy patches, the game crashing for no reason and then files get corrupted, I install another program but punkbuster didn't like it, and any number of things.

If you've never had to re-install a game, then you either don't own a computer or you're a spy from EA spreading propaganda.
