It's amazing how pirates can be so popular while everyone dances around the fact that they were having butt sex with eachother. Go ninjas.
That's not as bizarre as the popularity of the Samurai.

Everyone dances around the fact that when they weren't fighting they were grooming young boys and practising The Way of the Young [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shud%C5%8D].

Hmmm...

Pirates vs. Samurai vs. Spartans, who would win in a gay-off?

My vote would be for Pirates, since they had fabulous outfits and Parrots (though their poor hygiene will lose them points).

Maybe ninjas were just a bit sneakier about it...
WTF are you talking about? Pirates wernt gay for each other, and as a matter of fact, they wernt even like "Arrr!" They were more like "I say!"

And ninjas arnt the sneeky littel things you say they are. They were chinese peasents who volunteered themselves for black-ops missions in times of war. Ex. Ninjas didnt have super powers. There just untrained chinese people dressed in black.

HOORAY FOR KNOWLEDGE!!!!!
Now if only I could get some knowledge for spelling......

Cut for space. How are they the same? Ninjas originated in China.
Uh, NO! NO, NO, NO! NO! NO! NO NO NO!

Now that that's done, ninjas originated in Japan too. They were the guards and soldiers, knights of Japan, if you will. They were of noble decent, and protected emperors, they were not mercenaries. Ninjas were farmers, who adapted farmer things, like a small sickle, into a sickle on a chain, a very deadly weapon. Also, they had blow dart guns, crushed glass that they threw into people's eyes, and a ninjato, a shorter version of the katana. Ninjas were farmers rebelling, basically.
I don't get your point he's already said samurais come from japan your agreeing with him?
I'm saying ninjas did too. And correcting him about the mercenary part.

EDIT: Oh wait, I see the problem. Fixed.
Ah, okay. I got confused when you said samurais came from Japan too. I was thinking "That's exactly what I said." I knew ninjas were rebelling peasants, but samurais were often hired for battles.

Samurais originated in Japan. They acted as hired mercenaries, wore heavy armor, and focused mainly on the katana as a main weapon. Maybe the game designers threw in too many ninja aspects when making samurai games.
Ninja's originated in 14th century feudal Japan, Ninja comes from the Japanese word ninjutsu which means "the art of stealth", also they were used for espionage, sabotage, and scouting. They weren't warriors, they were spies.
I never said ninjas were warriors. I stand corrected on the origin of the ninja, but didn't they become more widespread in China later on?

It could be good. That original Pirates was pretty good, just a few loose ends.

I'm still looking forward to Pimps at Sea.
The first one was an execellent game. Good grapichs, fun sea battles and a open-world gamestyle. But the loose ends overwhelmed the story now and then, which was a big shame. But anywho, Pimps at sea is gonna be some hell of a ride ^^

Well, if you'd read the link in my post, you'd see that the "Japanese tradition of age-structured homosexuality or pederasty prevalent in samurai society" was more than just training kids to use swords...

I found I got tired of that game in about an hour....it's very repetitive.
It wasn't even the best Caribbean maritime game that came out in Q4 2004. Port Royale 2 was the better game, which basically took Pirates! and crossed it with Patrician 3.
On the topic of other pirate games the east india comany game on the pc looks worth a play it isn't a pirate game per say but it does have piratey aspects to it
There's already a piece of DLC for it called "Pirate Bay" that lets you play as a pirate faction. Why they make people spend $7.95 so soon after release...well, that smacks of cynicism.

I haven't played EIC yet, but it's on my radar screen.

The best pirate games are Sid Meier's Pirates! and the Monkey Island series, clearly.

Oh, and Pirates of the Carribean for Xbox is okay.

The non-movie-based Pirates of the Caribbean RPG for Xbox is fantastic. Beautiful graphics, decent storyline, lots of fun stuff to do.

If i'm not mistaken i think they are taking this game in the same direction as that one, as i already said I hope they don't do the really harsh difficulty curve from the first one

Although it is debatable how much the characters are actually "pirates", Skies of Arcadia and the Gamecube remake stand as my favorite pirate-type games.

Precisely, Port Royale and Patrician are excellent games.

I've just been looking through upcoming games and it seems that another pirates of the carribean game is coming out, It isn't folowing the story line of the film as it is set years before and it will be like the first pirates of the carribean game plundering ships raiding towns exploring caves and exotic locations, I reckon it's about time we had another decent pirate game i love them, so what do you guys think?
Please we need more pirate games and also the new Pirates Of the carrabean (lol) should be like the online game or like the Elder Scrolls series exept more sea and ships......should be like the online game exept MUCH better!
