It's good news - one that made me smile. I don't actually know how good notch is at Quake 3. I'd be really funny if he's a q3 mega-pro. And q3dm17 - a really solid choice. My favourite map ever (and I suspect a lot of other people's too).

It pisses me off that they enforce the rules so harshly. It basically forces people to type a longer sentence that actually doesn't mean anything. I mean yeah there are cases where a low content post deserves a warning, but in this case and many others, the brief posts do more than enough to make their point.

Then again, it wouldn't have been too hard to make a sentence of what TC thought and another one saying "What do you think". So it's not only the Escapists' fault.

You know what's hilarious? There's an epic derail and a couple of versus threads going on right now, one of which Nasrin is even posting in and encouraging (the derail), and nobody has gotten in trouble for any of it. Then we get one little low content post, and it's banhammer central. I'm not complaining that the other threads are being left alone, I think all three of those rules are kind of silly, but if you're gonna be harsh, you might want to be consistent in enforcing them.

OT: This thread has inspired me to play some UT99. Unfortunately, it's not currently installed on this computer, and it would take me half the night to get all the fan patches and graphical upgrades I'd need downloaded from the creaky old fansites. Maybe tomorrow.

The irony here is that the filtered voice you hear there is one of the bugs that would cause me to spend half the night tweaking settings and downloading stuff before I got to play; it's a bug that can be fixed in some manner that I can't remember off the top of my head XD

In some cases it might be too harsh, but in this case. A thread starter with practically no text? A new thread is supposed to bring in some sort of discussion value. This wasn't too harsh.
