Pitchfork.com Lists the Top 500 Songs of the Decade. [http://pitchfork.com/features/staff-lists/7685-the-top-500-tracks-of-the-2000s-500-201/]

The staff at pitchfork.com [http://pitchfork.com/], a site that reviews new and old music, has recently put together a list of the staff's top five-hundred songs of the decade.

The list consists of album artwork and a player so you can listen to each or the five-hundred songs in their entirety. Also, once you reach the two-hundredth song, the staff gives a short review of the song explaining why they put it where they did.

Though the list does traverse many genres, I can't help but feel like there was some bias. Albeit, most of the stuff on there would be replaced immediately by a good portion of my ITunes library.

What do you think about this list Escapist? Agree? Disagree? Find any songs you hadn't heard before that you now like?

...Why do we all care? A site declares it's favorite something and people jump on it like fleas to a dog, mercilessly attacking it due to their own subjective opinions. God I hate lists because there is always complainging about them. /insane rant

But yeah the list does look shitty.
I agree, the only thing lists do is spark argument.

Also this list is fucking awful!

If this is anything like an average top 100/500/1000 list some aweful song by Queen and Stairway to Heaven will be in the top 5.

Now to see if I'm right...

Edit: And I'm completely wrong. Looks like we've got something new here! The list seems quite odd to me (Jay-Z I that high I could understand, but Beyoncé? Really?), but I do give them serious props for having Gnarls Barkley, Radiohead and Daft Punk up that high. They don't compare to Ayreon, Streetlight Manifesto or A Wilhelm Scream, but I'm guessing in a top 500 something like this is the best you can get.

Good point, that even rules out my edit and explains why there's so much horrible music up with so much decent music.

Have to say you can barely blame me though, I haven't seen a top X 'of the Y-period' ever before - it's always one of 'all times'.

There's some good music in there, and then that persons co-workers ruined it all by putting in Jay-z and things.

Meh.

I'm honestly surprised the top 10 songs aren't just the track order on Kid A. What a shock!

And now The Onion [http://www.theonion.com/content/news/pitchfork_gives_music_6_8/]

Yeah, that was a pretty narrow list there. There was only a handful of genres mentioned throughout the entire list. This list fails to live up to it's title.
