So this might be a long shot for a topic, but what was that pivotal game/moment that you realized that you were in fact a geek/nerd? Mine was when I ended up cutting off a large group of friends due to my World of Warcraft addiction (which I have now replaced with Warhammer :) )

Haha Cinder Block, mine was when I cried because my Runescape account got banned... yeah I was addicted to that game. Got me into online gaming. I wouldn't really consider myself to be a nerd though... I have a girlfriend and I go outside reguraly, only thing seperating me from anybody else is the fact that I could hit you right between the eyes from the other side of the map in CoD4 :)

Mine was probably when i realized I could name every one of the 151(at the time) pokemon just from a look at the shadow. I could almost name every single one from memory with out any help, either.

Ye call that nerdiness?
I know a guy who can identify the first 251 Pokemon by number.
It's scary.

I personally never had a nerd moment. I always knew.

When I had so many trading cards that I had to store them in a shoebox. This is when I was about eight.

As a reaffirmation, I only realised that I spend more time posting on game forums the Escapist, thinking up game concepts and reading about games than actually playing them a few weeks back.

When someone using the 'Alert' sound from MGS as a message tone on their mobile made my fingers twitch and my head snap around to spot the bastard.

That's fairly impressive. Why 251 though? Why stray into the second set? Doesn't the first+second set have over 251 pokémon, in which case it'd be an only half-complete second set? I'd be more impressed if you'd said 151. Sure it'd be 100 less, but it'd be the complete first set only which I can appreciate.

That said though, Espeon>all other pokémon.

The alert sound would go great with my codec-ringing ring tone! :D

My moment was when I started listing all the animes I watched all the way through over MSN and ran out of characters for more than two IMs, and I'd still forgotten some :(

The second generation of Pokemon has 251 named Pokemon, Unown having 28 forms, one for each letter of the alphabet plus the ! and ? symbols.

He refuses to learn any of the third generation or later because he's a G1 purist. He only memorised G2 cos he was bored.

That fact that I am gainfully employed on a more than full-time basis as a lawyer but somehow still find the time to make fansites about Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms (link in profile if you are interested).

Or perhaps the fact that I post 1500-word missives on Roguelike games to game discussion boards like this one [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.72684#770148] for no appreciable reason, end or benefit other than as tribute to the love of a gaming genre.

I realized it at some point while watching G4 (I think I was watching Attack of the Show at the time).
