Oh wow, that's awesome. Does that mean they finally have this game in a decent resolution/compatability/etc?
The original game is pretty primitive in that regard, but there are unofficial mods that bring a lot of goodness to the table. FileShack [http://www.fileshack.com/browse.x/7926] has a few, including one that offers widescreen resolutions, although in my mind it looks fine as-is. It looks like it's supposed to - you don't play this game for sexy graphics.

(That said, if you can get widescreen support with a simple patch, why the hell not?)

Awesome awesome awesome. This is one of my favorite games and if anyone out there enjoys a good story it's an absolute must. Can't wait to pick it up.

This is brilliant news. I already have PS:T, but if this makes more available to a wider audience, then that's great. Planescape: Torment is one of the greatest RPGs *ever*, bar none, in my book, and this should be required reading in college. XD (Because let's, face it, a lot of people don't play it because of the sheer amount of text. I can hear it now: "What's all this reading? When's it getting good?" *sigh* )

Hell yes.

Haha, my first play through of Awesomescape Torment, I used the widescreen patch. Only one minor hiccup, 99% of everything ran gloriously

slightly off topic: one of the best stories in a videogame ever, imo

I just did a four disc full install upon reading the news. Still, everyone should buy Torment, maybe if we show enough interest, certain Black Isle Ex-Pats may decide to re-visit Sigil. One can hope. One can believe.

However, there'll be major regret all round if they messed that up.

I will say that it's not the Planescape setting itself that's responsible for PS:T's quality; a large part of it is due to keeping fairly high standards of creativity and writing throughout. I own quite a lot of the Planescape materials directly because of this game, and it still is the most compelling of the lot.

I am tempted to get another copy of the game. The extras are slowly seducing me, and I'd be able to see how well it works on my excessively portable computer without digitally juggling 4 CDS into a device without a CD-ROM drive.

To anyone who doesn't have it, it's pretty much the best story and setting that I've encountered in games (besides The Longest Journey's story.) Very unique, and it offers more meaningful player choices than any other game besides Arcanum.

There are legitimate complaints to be levied against it: the combat is just so-so and the middle-late game sections feel a bit rushed. Those detract little from the game, however.
