When you use it, does it charge when your Xbox is off like the PS3 charge?

I don't think so. Though you should be able to play indefinitely as long as you keep it plugged in.

I've noticed that sometimes when I leave it on overnight, the battery will be completely full the next day so I think it does. If you really want to know, just play until the battery dies, then plug the charger in and turn off the xbox. Try about three hours later and see if there is more life than before.
