longest i have gone on playing a game was when wow :WOTLK came out. Rolled a Dk spent the next 3 days trying to get server first 80 DK. Unfortunately while questing in sholazar basin (was Lv77) someone got it and i lost all motivation to keep going and went to bed.

Eh... I could do that I think. I would be the most worthless pile of **** for the following week or so, but I'm pretty sure I've stayed up 35-36 hours in a row doing stuff I didn't enjoy. Just give me FFVI and something to eat every 12-16 hours...

P.S. I fully realize how pathetic this is.

... I did that last week. I actually did just about three days...

I HATE MY LIFE *cries*

Nah, i'm kidding, i couldn't be arsed to be watched by people the entire time. So they deserve it.

This is a record? I thought it was merely a rite of passage for gamers.

I could totally do this but what game...Spore would be good if space stage didn't suck. I need a constantly evolving RTS type game. Civilization ends so no. Creatures would work but I would probably get bored splicing monstrosities and releasing piranhas to see the "effect" On water enviroments.

I think any of us could do this. 50 hours no problem, as long as i can switch out games whenever. if i have to sit and play one game for fifty hours that would be pretty difficult, only RPG lovers could do that. Unless a new MGS game comes out, i know i play 4 in excess of 30 hours. whats the longest anybody else has played one game?

THAT is a world record? You have to be kidding me. I played Mass Effect 1 for 69 hours* straight, stopping only to take a piss or refill my water bottle (not to get stuff to eat though, I had a loaf of bread on my desk).

So all I need to do to beat that is to record the attempt and send it in right? I'll get right on that.

* please don't talk about the number of hours, I didn't plan it I swear.

Not me. I wouldn't even be able to play a game for five hours without at least a few short breaks. No matter how good the game is I'm playing, I will always get enough of it when I play for too long consecutively. Please don't tell me I'm the only one.

after 30 hours are gone, the remaining 20 aren't that bad... other than avoiding hand cramp, it's not really that impressive, oh wow, they sat around for 50 hours moving their thumbs *applaud* I got up, did nothing for a day, couldnt get sleep, went out, got into a 1 on 8 fight (*sigh, chavs*) went town with friends, went home with friends and watched films with them over night, went back to town the next morning took an 80 mile round coach trip and went ice skating, then came home and didnt go sleep till midnight, without energy drinks >.>

i reckon if i wanted to, i could do this...

I could do that easily... in fact I'm pretty sure I do that all the time.
I've done over 40 hours before.

Grr. Should've filmed it. But hey, the biggest problem for me would be my mum telling me to go to bed.

Reading whats been written coupled with my own opinion, i think that 50hours isn't impressive. It's barely even decent. I know times when me and a group of friends have been on 37 hour game binge, and that's without even trying.
-I'm a student, way too much spare time.
So i think after this announcement the record will be smashed alot. It's an easy thing to do and that's a pathetic time which is a near insult to gamers around the world.

50 hours? Call me crazy, but I think that's actually a lot lower than what I thought the record would be.
Isn't it? Im fairly sure I came close to that on WotLK's release... and that wasnt even trying.

This is kind of sad, I've personally made the WoW lockout timer (72 hours online in one sitting) back in vanilla, with nothing more than a 3 buckets of soft peppermints and 4 litres of Mountain Dew. Although to be fair I did sleep for about 36 hours after that, and woke up with one hell of a headache. On top of that I've known other people to have done this as well. So call me crazy but 50 hours straight is nothing to people who play games for 10+ hours on a regular day. Although I doubt I could do another 72 because I can't stand those mints anymore. But then again if you go through a gallon bucket every day for almost a year you would hate them too.

Only 50 hours? I think we're going to have a new gaming record being set soon. That's not so bad! Shit, I bet Blizzard has data on WoW players going for longer haha
