Quite ready for this. I will be getting the "Love is Over" edition. Gonna sport my boxers and t-shirt all around the town.

And I have no rage to nourish you OP. The whole Sub vs. Dub debate is just stupid in my eyes. Since Catherine is supposedly using fancy lip synch technology to match up the English dialogue I consider that more godlike than using the original audio.

Man, I want to play this game. Glad the demo's on both systems so I can decide which version I want. Basically the difference comes down to the cover. Blonde (PS3) or brunette (XBox)? I'm hoping I like playing the PS3 version better. (I prefer brunettes over blondes (redheads over both) but the PS3 cover is better looking.)

Okay...let me try and figure out why this game is so anticipated.

I get that it's a thriller/puzzler and whatnot. But is that all there is to do in the game? I'm not minimizing it, I'm just asking. Is there full frontal nudity? Is that why there's problems with the marketing and such?

I don't know if I should get it or not. I was pumped about Alice and it was eh. I was happy about Duke Nukem and it was...well, it was. So I'm not sure yet.

Time to make a North American account to download the demo then. Never needed one until now. And, as usual, no word on when it's coming to Europe. At least tell us approximately when, or fuck just tell us if we can expect in 2011 or not.
Oh god, this isn't one of those games that won't come to the UK and europe until it's basically too late?
A bit like how they have only just released Demon Soul's in the UK.
Still, looks like a good game, even if i do suspect that yahtzee will slam it.
Well given Atlus' track record that's the most likely scenario. I'm probably going to import (PS3 is region free thankfully), but I would pretty pissed if it's releasing in Europe a month later. Atlus promised this time that they're looking for European publisher from the start yet they've told us nothing so far.

soon after I get it Im gonna go online after I get it and see how soon it is before someone creates an alternate of each cover(ie Catherine cover with Xbox logos and Katherine with PS3 logos).

You were happy about Duke? XDXDXD... but I can see the Alice thing to a certain extent.

No there is not ANY full frontal nudity, while 'titillating' everything is just suggestive. The reason it is so hyped is that it comes to us from Atlus and in so, the Persona team, responsible for the Persona games and the SMT franchise as a whole. (Persona 4, persona 3, Digital Devil Saga ect. ect. But VERY good RPG's. You should look them up.) Yes the game is hyped by it's pedigree. But I have played it and I can tell you it's a good time.

It's about a man whom to sum it up cheats on his long time girlfriend, and it's up to him (and you as the player) to figure out if your going to stay faithful from now on, go with the mistress (ooh lala~) or tell them to screw themselves and you can stay all single. XD

Well, I wasn't 'excited' about Duke, so to speak. I was just curious. You know, about a decade in the making, flinging poop and slapping titties. I thought it'd be different.
And here we are.

And I know it's by the same makers of Persona. Great games, even though I'm not into them. But that doesn't seem like a good reason to me. It's like saying "Infinite Undiscovery is by the same makers of Final Fantasy so you know its gotta be good!". Now compare both games and you'll see what I mean.
I know the story too but...well, it just seems like another Japanese simulator to me with a bit of horror and puzzles. I guess what confuses me is that the Persona and Shin megami games are not as anticipated as Catherine. I mean, there's a Persona game coming out soon for the PSP and is anyone making a big fuss about it? Is it just because Catherine is rated M and toys with the idea of adult-only content? Is it the puzzles? Is it the story?

Thanks for the explanation, though. DX I didn't know about the choices you have when it comes to cheating or remain faithful. That part appealed to me a bit. But I'm starting to think its just me who doesn't wanna get excited about this game. I'm tempted to get the Special Edition but I guess I'm not THAT interested in the game. . _.

The reason they aren't as hyped is because everyone at first expected it to be persona 5. EVERYONE thought that Vincent was going to be the protagonist. Not only that but one in his 30's which made everyone think "Hey awesome, an adult persona user blah blah blah." which gave it more hype, more coverage. The trailers then gave it more steam with the idea of juggling two ladies. Needless to say the amount of devastation finding out it wasn't an RPG made some lose interest..

But the hype meter kept going.

So you can thank the idea of persona 5 and the pedigree that got this ball rolling. What's kept it rolling however is that fact that it's different, and people are hungry for different. It's not that it toy's with adult content, it's that it's mature without being childish (duke nukem for instance) it handle's things like relationships without being, well, dumb, they take it seriously about the trouble this guy is in.

The new persona game is a port of Innocent Sin, as 5 is a couple years off. It will be interesting to see if Catherine sells. It is an original IP that has strayed from the "RPG" mold" to the puzzle action. The nice thing is that they aren't telling us, "ooh, we only work with kids," like ALL other JRPGs tend to do. They stuck their neck out to tackle an older generation and a new style. As I said before, this game wouldn't get any buzz without "makers of Persona" in some form, but it's been hyped up to a "semi-major release" because of it.

Not only that but rumor is that it's going to be a type of franchise.

But I agree with you, without "The makers of persona" this wouldn't get as much coverage as it has.
