Playing as a Creature?

... What are the best games out there that let you play as a monster/creature?

And by creature I don't mean fuzzy mascot or anthropomorphic hero (that means no Yoshi, Rachet, Daxter,Sonic, basically none of the "cutesy" guys) I'm talking true beast here (supernatural, genetically engineered, mutated, etc.)

No favorites come to mind (except maybe Bloody Roar) so help me out here. What are your favorites?

you are pretty much a monster in prototype. but you look human, so i dont know if it counts...

Kinda Divinity II. The game was shit though - I really don't know how you manage to make being a damn dragon not cool, but they did.

Yes vampires count. As long as they aren't twilight vamps.

The Darkness comes to mind. It was a neat little FPS that stood apart by offering you cool demonic powers that changed how you normaly play fps and it had a surprisingly deep and well acted story. The characters seemed very human (with some exceptions) and i actually cared about them.

The Haunting for the sega genisis was a little known but fun game where you played as the ghost of a skater trying to get revenge on the rich family who's faulty product caused his death. you did this by possessing furniture and scarying them out of their house.

Oh and who could forget the splatter house games. you gotta love a game that pits a jason vorheiz wannabe against the leagions of hell.

The Legacy of Kain games were sweet as well. They didn't have the greatest combat but the story and voice acting were epic

Um, Twilight Princess part of the time? Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion? Why do you want to play these games, if you don't mind my asking? Catharsis?

Dragon Age: Origins if you roll a shapeshifter mage, although they aren't very good you can be various animals

The recent Alien Versus Predator game was certainly not without its flaws but let me tell you, when you played as the Alien in that game... you really feel like the Alien in that game!
