You play as a Space Marine Terminator, meaning you are the elite of the elite warriors of the Imperium, equipped with the best armour and weapons they can muster. You fight Genestealers, also known as some of the most lethal melee warriors in the Warhammer 40K universe.

I'd hardly call that an average joe.

Pretty much this. Regular Space Marines are incredibly powerful warriors, and Terminators are even more so. They're outfitted with a variety of insanely powerful weapons, like Storm Bolters, Assault Cannons and Powerfists. Genestealers on the other hand are capable of ripping targets apart literally in the blink of an eye, and they have the advantage of numbers.

I'd love a Warhammer 40k video game where you play as a simple Guardsman facing off against any number of the Imperium's enemies. Since you'd be outfitted with weak standard-issue gear, you would have to rely on your fellow soldiers to help take enemies down. Stray from your squad and you're as good as dead. It would really drive the point home that the Warhammer 40k universe is an incredibly lethal place to live in for the average human.

I would LOVE to see this, however no-one respects the Guard, they're too busy fawning over the super soldiers with .75 caliber assault rifles... ho hum, when will the guard get their time in the sun?
