Playing Bluray movies when Sony ends PS3 support and AACS Encryption key can't be renewed?

Hi all,
How will we play Bluray movies on the PS3 when Sony ends support for the console and the AACS Encryption Key expires and can't be renewed because PS3 updates have been terminated? Will Sony come to some arrangement and deploy a final update that sets the encryption key to never expire?

Wait wait wait my PS3 Blu-Ray discs, both movie and games, will be unplayable when the PS3 drops support?
Not games.

I'm glad AACS has long been hacked. Now for AACS 2 (4K discs).
Is this a recent thing or has this happened all the time?

Surely this would be the same issue that every blu-Ray player that lacks a network connection would face? Will they just do that thing where PS3 games that need a specific version of the firmware also carry a copy of it on the disc?

Are you kidding me, they built an expiration date into their console?
That is insane. I wouldn't even think about having to worry about my ps2 no longer playing dvds, unless it's because of an optical drive failure.

What about when the console tells you "you need the latest version of this game to run it" or something like that?

Well here's one thing I'll never have to worry about. Blu-ray movies are so expensive the only blu-ray I own is a tom cruise movie I got for free when I bought a book for some reason.

I was gonna say this would be a problem... but who even invests in physical media anymore? I can't tell you the last time I even bought a DVD.

How do you watch movies?
Netflix, Amazon Prime, Itunes... Most of the media I own these days is purely digital.

Netflix (the streaming option) is far from comprehensive, though. They can't afford most of the great movies and they regularly lose licenses. I really dislike the low res buffering on Netflix and the distracting menu. In Media Player Classic, the menu only shows when I move my mouse to the bottom, and all it is is the seek bar. With Netflix, the whole huge UI is there and takes a few seconds to disappear. It's also pretty disorganized, the menus contain spoilers, it doesn't look and sound as good as Blu-ray, and I find it pretty distasteful how the picture is minimized as soon as the end credits start playing. The service needs a lot more options.

How is the quality on Amazon?

I rent about 22 movies a month with Netflix DVD (with Blu-ray), but I also still buy Blu-rays on occasion. I'm looking forward to finally receiving Dekalog in the mail soon. I pre-ordered it three months ago.
It's about the same to be honest.
