Playing GTA a little differently

A game topic of a slightly odd sort.

I will probably be getting back into GTA: Vice City/San Andreas soonish.
One of my favorite things to do in both of those earlierish GTA games include two specific cheats.
First, I put in a cheat that gives all pedestrians weapons. Varies from knives to rocket launchers.
Then, I make all drivers drive aggressively (San Andreas only for this one, I believe).
Finally, I activate the actual riot. Civilians and everyone go immediately batshit insane and start shooting each other, and me.
This of course raises a wanted level, but I actually observe more than fight. And when I have to, I keep the "Wanted Level Down" cheat handy.

I actually wrote a fanfic on this, based in San Andreas with CJ after becoming a cop (I play the game slightly differently, haha). And then everyone goes nuts due to an unknown virus where only cops are immune. It was an interesting survival story, I never explained the virus, or how numerous citizens got their hands on M16's (I titled the story "M16's for Everyone!", a zany and probably controversial reference to one of the famous school shootings, where the shooter had a flash video on Newgrounds titled that). Whether or not it's a TASTELESS reference, is up to you as the individual.

Either way, I should probably whip it out again and edit/fix it up.

But yea, good times.

Just wanted to see some input or other funny stories about playing games a little differently than originally intended.

My sister used to play GTA for sensible driving. She used to steal a taxi, turn on the missions, and then drive them there sensibly, roughly the same speed as other cars, even stopping for the lights. One guy jumped out of her taxi without paying, however, and she swiftly crushed his ribs between the bonnet and the back-end of a building.

On Oblivion I went through a stage of trying to take down the entire system of guards. I reverse pick-pocketed harming items on the ones who only fell unconscious, and tried to kill the entire worlds established authority and proclaim myself supreme ruler of all things fixed to the ground. Did similar on Fable 2.

Although someone I know has a habit of trying to 'ethnically cleanse' every game he plays. He picks on an established race or species and just tries to wipe them all out. Actually killed all the Argonians in Oblivion, I believe. It was less funny on GTA when he tried to kill anyone not white. I'm not sure if he's racist or whether he just universally hates everyone just as much.
Same guy also lead an army of mudcrabs through random camps. Waaaay too much time.

I have many similar stories. In fact, they are so many I can't really recall any and the summer heat doesn't help at all :S

Anyways, one slightly funny moment would be when I picked up cars in Vice City, kidnapped the passengers and throw them in the ocean. Then I would watch them float and giggle :p

That isn't a waste of time in any way whatsoever. I might actually give that a go (wiping out a race) just to see what the games like after...

I would always put oil slicks on bridges in GTA2 so that everyone would just slide off the bridge. I didn't get any money for it and my wanted level never went up, it was just entertaining watching slow moving traffic drive into the water.

I wouldn't see that as racist, just wasting time in a way he might find fun. Besides, better on a game than in real life.

in the game that just came out prototype, and yes i do have it, i will hijack a helicopter and destroy an intersection then crash into the intersection. then i will steal a tank and force people into the intersection. the intersection needs to be next to the tallest building in the game and also you need to have hammerfists for the last step. climb the gigantic building with the hammerfists equipped and jump of doing a flying elbow into the intersection creating large clouds of red that you may bask in for a few minuets befor the government obliterates your ass

That just sounds like standard sandboxing rather than just "playing oddly".

True, especially in a game like Prototype, where you're meant to do stuff like that.

They respawn, but if you manage to visit every 'cell' once every three days, the cell is reset and it takes another three days for them to respawn.(three in-game days is about one hour gameplay)

Interesting. Back when I was younger, in GTA 3, I would go around driving normally and going to random places and sort of RPing...in my head. You know, making up stories about what I was doing and such. Good times.

Nowadays my imagination isn't quite as good for that, but I do enjoy driving normally and obeying traffic laws and such. Especially in GTA4's amazing city.
