Let me google that for you. [http://lmgtfy.com/?q=laptop+to+tv]
So yes it is possible you just need the right adapter.

You need to buy an adapter.

Depending on your laptop you either need a vga to hdmi, dvi to hdmi or hdmi to hdmi

(I'm guessing that your tv supports hdmi cables)

if it's not HDMI - HDMI it will probably look shit. Just a warning
Simply not true.

I've used dvi - hdmi

Mini hdmi - hdmi

And neither of those looked like shit

Havent tried Vga - Hdmi but I really see no reason that it will suck, but will be a bit pricy to find a converter.

Certainly possible, though the quality will depend on what wiring the laptop support.

Most primitive way for older laptops is probably a VGA-VGA cable and a minijack - phono cable. This assuming your TV has a VGA port (my Samsung do), and it probably won't look or sound all that good.

Otherwise, If it has a HDMI or DVI port, then simply using a HDMI-HDMI cable, or a DVI-HDMI cable + some cable to transmit sound - minijack to phono cable or an optical cable depending on available ports - would be the best solution.

If you buy a dvi - hdmi you can still get sound from it.

I hook up my laptop to my TV with a VGA cable, and it looks just great. It's nice to do Photoshop on a large screen - Makes things easier. There's always a solution, at least for a good TV. Hell, even a Visio has a bunch of ways to hook into it. It just takes a little research and finding a solution that works for you.
