Still got an SNES, still got it plugged in, and yes, it still works, despite my mother having bought it in 1991.

You consider the N64 and origional Xbox retro?

Man I feel old, and I'm only twenty one!
Anyway the oldest console I own is the NES, the oldest I've played is this old vector graphics system that's name escapes me.
I feel old too, and I'm only 18!

Used to have a NES - It broke
Used to have a SNES - It also broke
Still got a N64 and PS1, but I don't really play them any more.

I miss the SNES and NES sometimes... :<

One of them was left in a damp room for a while too long, and the other just kept falling off the damn desk. >.>

I am pretty sure we actually broke two NES's, one with that damp, and I forgot how the other broke. I have two brothers (that's three boys sharing a console) so it probably suffered much blunt force trauma to the everywhere when we dropped it one too many times.

Many good times were had playing those.

Went into my local gameshop. PS1 games for two pounds. PS2 games for under five pounds. I was seriously termpted, especially when I saw a game I had always wanted to buy there. Someone I know recently ordered classic of our time, Hogs of war for PS1 since it doesnt work on the latest windows. On replay, I have to say it clearly beats COD hands down :p

Since the orginal XBOX and Dreamcast were just last gen, they're not really retro, just old. Awesome, but old. I suppose the N64 could be considered retro.

I have a SNES hooked up to my 15 year old TV in my cupboard and break out the old GameBoy for Pokémon every now and then ( I'm Currently doing a run of Yellow for a Nuzlocke Challenge y'see)

I have a Megadrive in my loft gathering dust if that counts, which reminds me, I haven't played Altered Beast in a while...

I still have a Genesis, NES, SNES and N64 all hooked up to my TV...that's as new as I'd go in the definition of "retro gaming". They're all right next to my PS2, Wii and XBox 360. I also have an old gameboy and a Pokemon Gameboy colour.

I play all of my old systems on a fairly regular basis. The games are just as good now as when I first got them. Good times.

Still though I've heard stories about a Game boy that was hit by lightning and stil worked, and a DS that sat under a snow drift for two months and had no trouble.

Many good times were had playing those.
Indeed my console of choice was the Mega Drive but I had some good times on the NES as well.
*gets all nostalgic*

Would you find it odd that a 19 year old male recently spent £26 quid on a Sega Master System with 10 games?

If so, then damn I feel old! XD

But the point is, despite having and playing emulators, I really can't help but want to get the real games and consoles just to get that authentic experience.

Its not really nostalgia, (since i grew up on SNES/Megadrive/PS1/N64), but more of a curious fascination.

As a gaming enthusiast, (who has also been recently reading up on game design), I love to play old games, to try and discover any interesting and unique art, music, story or gameplay elements, (or unique combination of such elements).

In fact, as a collector, I would be considered a n00b! XD
(as my most impressive collectors Items are a NeoGeo Pocket Color, a large Xbox collection (minus Shenmue 2, and Steel battalion, the rarest titles), and My megadrive/master system stuff, (Outrun 3D (no glasses though...), Ys, megadrive arcade stick (3 button), and master system add-on for the megadrive)))

The oldest console i own is a Mega Drive. I still play it now and then. Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Sonic still have huge replay value.
