I know New Vegas has been out for a while, but I still do not own it yet, I still play Fallout 3 on my computer. So I wanted to do something fun before I get New Vegas for Christmas.

I've almost always played as a sniping/stealth character, I'd do this again, again, and again for ages. Now I'm bored. So, I'm trying something new.

Instead I will make a character who exclusively uses Unarmed, Melee Weapons and Sneak. BUT, I will not keep any weapons I find, I will only use weapons that I find on scene, and drop any weapons I picked up after I leave the fight.

To keep it rough I'm playing on Very Hard.

Have you ever made such a creative and unique build in an RPG?

One time I played through Oblivion using no weapons (just my fists),and no clothes other than a pair of sack cloth pants(not even any shoes).

Deus Ex with only an Uber-modded Stealth pistol.

I had so much free space in my inventory that I started feeling guilty.

Wouldn't a shotgun and stealth contradict each other?

Exactly, and let me tell you the final boss was a ***** to fight. (The one i got you have to attack at long range or else he stuns you, knocks you down, and the shoots you.)

Not nearly as often as I should. Generally, I go into Practical Mode much too readily.

I do make up for that in spades with Dwarf Fortress, of course.

This... isn't normal?

Okay, on my first playthrough, I also had a GEP, Dragon's Tooth and sniper rifle, plus shotgun. Not exactly traveling light. All the same, a heavily modded pistol, stealth or otherwise, gets completely ridiculous.

I once played Everquest as a pacifist bard. Got to about 8th level I think before running out of viable things to do. I also played Oblivion as an NPC, inspired by the Living In Oblivion thing here [http://livinginoblivion.wordpress.com/2007/02/28/to-sum-it-up/]

when playing destroy all humans 2 (it feels like no one remembers that game) I had to reach a high point to get a power-up, your supposed to upgrade your jet-pack to get a higher jump, but I instead stacked a bunch of cars on top of each other and made a staircase to the item.
I felt like a genius

Tenchu Z with only the Katana and grappling hook.

Mostly because almost any item in the game makes it way too freakin' easy..

Not really.

ATM I'm just starting out a secondary play of New Vegas (still aint finished my first, but i never have been able to see anything through anyway) whereas, instead of being a sniper like I did in my first (or current, whatever) playthrough, I invest most of my points and perks into social aspects that give unique conversation options. Oh, and "Animal Friend" both ranks.

I just liked the idea of being able to waltz around the Mojave threatening, seducing, manipulating or otherwise charming the pants off of everyone I come across.

Who knows, if I like it I might figure some way to integrate sniper-based gameplay into it. Then I'd be a long-range killing machine who then strolls into town, gets everything for a discount and flirts with the shopkeepers. Smooth...

...yeah, that is the depth of my practical creativity. I could go more creative, but I want to actually be able to, you know, do the game.

When I played Fallout: New Vegas I finished most of the game getting by picking locks and sweet talking people. When I did have to get into a shootout, I used Lucky - the unique .357 magnum. It wasn't until my second play session that I actually bothered shooting my way out of trouble.

To be honest, the game is far better if you don't resort to shooting everyone in the face.

My first playthough of Deus Ex I invested in assault rifles and whatnot and basically kicked down doors and repainted the world space with NPC interior spaces. The second time I was a sniper. The third time I picked up those nano-augs you never use (because the other half of the pair is clearly superior) and relied heavily on items. I only carried two weapons: the sawed off shotgun and the starter handgun. I kept that handgun simply because it did more damage than the stealth pistol and could be silenced just the same. Makes a difference by end game when pistol ammunition is hard to come by as the standard handgun can often resolve a problem with one shot where the silenced handgun would take 2.

I don't think this is exactly creative, but my first playthrough of Deus Ex I specialized in getting places I wasn't supposed to be, and in using non-lethal weapons.

However, once I got the Dragon's Tooth, my pacifism slowly degraded until I eventually went around cutting mechs into pieces jedi style.

I can't say that I often resort to these creative playstyles, although this thread has certainly prompted me to try it.
