IThose always worked best especially when you can enchant a weapon or staff with shock magic.

I may be reading this the wrong way, but is there a way to Enchant a custom staff? I am asking because the manual states that one can enchant one but I could never figure out how.

You have to join the mages guild. Then you can create custom staves.

Are you talking about the wood you get for your apprentice staff? I thought you had to give it to the one guy who makes it into of of 9 choices?

Maybe. Its been a while since I played it but I still have my custom staff I got from the mages guild quest.

Yes, this is the problem that I had with vanilla Oblivion's gameplay...
pretty much every aspect of it becomes bloody useless given enough time.
Granted, for much of the game, the best strategy is to go with fireballs, lightning, and some kind of bladed weapon. But after a while, enemies will gain so much health that no matter where you decided to level up, everything at your disposal became bloody useless.

Oh, I made mine with shock damage

Same with almost all my spells.

I have a fully maxed out shock spell that does 100 damage in a 100 foot radius.

Thought so. You got yours by handing the Staff over to a member of the Mages Guild and picking Lightning

I was hoping or a way to make multiple Custom Staves using Enchanting Altars, Now I am sad...

You can go REALLY wrong in Morrowind. Nearly every NPC is a Dark Elf and they all have 75% resistance to fire.

not true. Only HALF of the NPCs are Dunmer. the other races are each ten percent of the population.

But yeah, that sort of thing is why I don't play a mage. I almost always play a fighter who has ludicrously overpowered gear thanks to steady habit of theft

IIRC.. just make your own spell with magic vulnerability one second/frost vulnerability one second/ decent frost damage effect for massive damage.
