Dynasty Warriors 5
Really, just get one Warriors game, they cost next to nothing and there's practically nothing like it out there. I'd simply recommend Dynasty Warriors 5 but some people swear to the Samurai off-shoot. You've got to have played one of these suckers, or at least rent it to know what all the fuss is about.
Fighting games
Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (the only fighting game that really teaches you how to play it)
Soul Calibur 2 (Very fun single player hunt to unlock everything, don't get the sequels plz)
Guilty Gear X2 #reload (A bit more iffy, but I found it very accessible and zany)
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (just for third strike, hyper fighting is a tad buggy)
Onmi:
Recommending the entire .Hack series is going out on a limb. That stuff is incredibly niche.

Same goes for CvS2, that thing is not all too accessible if you don't have a background in Capcom and SNK fighters (ie. "who are all these guys" syndrome). If you do have an awareness of them this game is an absolute joy though, I'm completely crap at it but still love it.

Haha, try getting a legal PAL copy of MvC2 for PS2. That thing is on the list of endangered species. Capcom are a bunch of bastards when it comes to their European releases. Third Strike never got released here. They even stripped it out of the anniversary collection and simply released HSF as a separate game here. To add insult to injury they even release the anniversary collection for the XBox a year later...
