And...what is Okami? I've heard alot of praise for it, though I have no idea what it is.
Trust me, it's worth buying a PS2 just so you can try playing Okami once in your life.

It's a genuinely one-of-a-kind game in which you take control of Amaterasu, a once-powerful god who awakens after a hundred years of sleep to find that her beautiful lands have been taken over by demons.

The demon army has removed all the color(!) from the world, and it's your job to make a journey across the entire domain, restoring the color with your divine paintbrush - which, conveniently, also serves as a weapon against the demon forces.

It's weak at first, but as you progress, you'll be able to summon gusts of wind to do your bidding, conjure bombs out of thin air, and more.

Sounds a bit silly, I know, but give it a chance. You won't be sorry!

Depends how much you have. But if you have say, only enough for Mass Effect 2, then don't buy it.

I kept my PS2... and I am VERY glad of it.

Absolutely. Resident Evil 4 is the best game of the generation. Trust me when I say that you cannot go wrong with a PS2.

Hey guys, I'm 15, came a little late to the party and feel like I have missed alot. Is it worth buying a PS2 off my friend for £15 to play classics like Shadow Of The Colossus and Resident Evil 4, or am I better off saving my cash for new stuff like Mass Effect 2?
download an emulator and you can play ps2 and ps1 games on your pc.
Explain.
there are programs that let you play those games on your PC, but the PS2 games lag even with an amazing computer.

I'm going to be hip and trendy and say no.
Get a PS3 instead. You can hang with me, we'll pwn teh nOoobs online! Plus you can still play the Ps2 games you want.
But seriously, if you don't have £250 to spare then just get the Ps2. =]
You can not play ps2 games on PS3. Not for the price of £250 anyway.
Yeah, you can. I have one. I know.
not all of the ps3's where backwards compatible only the first gen ones where and they stoped makin them like that very early.
Because Sony has evidently forgotten that backwards compatibility was one of the big selling points for the PS2 back in the day. That or they're a bunch of greedy dickwads. Perhaps both.

an emulator is a piece of software that mimics that of a games console, you download it onto your computer and it alows you to play those games on your pc, although you do need to download other pieces of software (specifically plugins and BIO's) you probably already have some suitable plugins on your computer but you will have to downlaod a BIO (NTSC in america, and PAL in europe) i can't tell you were to get them though as it is illegal to to be in possesion of such a file (someone sod will report me), but you can find all the instructions plugins and BIO's on the web.
