I think that you're over exaggerating a simple maintenance check/failure which would most likely be solved by tomorrow morning.

Incidentally, even if this were to last a week, online isn't everything so I don't think it would be the last of the PS3.

Much less Sony, which incidentally does more than make PS3s.

Also, seeing as PSN is free, I don't think people can sue at all.

Its actually effecting offline games, even those of people that are not/ never have been connected to the internet..

So they may be able to..

However with the thousands/millions of ps3's that are effected, the issue will have to be fixed.

though since I am a 360 man I will of course pray for the worst.

Don't do that. I too have a 360 but if Sony would actually go down, the quality of games would too as there would be no competition (Sorry Wii owners, call it what you want, it's not next gen and more of a gimmick than anything else).
