Hello Escapist. In two weeks I leave for a cruise. Normally, I can see people asking 'oh why would you ask for vita games if your going to be on a cruise? Enjoy it!' and obviously, I will. But I still have the plane ride to Florida, the waiting in the airport, the waiting to get onto the boat, ect.

Also, I go to bed earlier then most people. Normally i'm back in the cabin before my parents, and they get back round One AM, and I can't sleep before them, hah. So obviously, that's why i'm asking.

But yeah. Currently, on my vita, I have Corpse Party, Final Fantasy X-HD, FEZ, Hotline Miami, and Person 3/4 The Golden. I like JRPGs, I like little indy games that take time, and also horror as well.

Anyone wanna help? Thanks!

Lone Survivor and Gravity Rush!

Tearaway is pretty fun, and I know you can play Parasite Eve on them as well for some PS1 goodness. I know you can play Final Fantasy V on it, too.

Oh! And I just started Dokuro, and it's a pretty neat little puzzle game with a dark aesthetic.

Have you played any Ys games? I'd recommend you get Ys Memories of Celceta since you like JRPGs. It is a great action-rpg series. I actually just got a Vita today and could get 1 game for now so that is what I got. Been wanting to play it ever since it was announced. Already really enjoying it. It plays very similar to Ys 7 which is on PSP.

GET PSN+!
Seriously, there's so many free games for the Vita it's well worth the price.

Beyond that?
As I recall the PSV can play PS1 games, so there's that.

Chrono Cross and FF8 are favorites (JRPG) of mine, they're both from the PS1.

Muramasa Rebirth is a remake/port of an AMAZING Wii game for the Vita.
If you liked Dragon's Crown or Odin Sphere, I'm confidant you'l enjoy Muramasa.

I just started playing Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition. It's my first DW game but I'm having a blast.

I like JRPGs,
My vita is pretty much only used for PS1 RPGs. FF7 8 and 9 are great on a handheld that you can turn off at any time, you can take as big or as small a bite of the content as you want at a time.

Also I have Tactics for it... which I'm mixed about. I got War of the Lions which has the awful slowdown with spell effects, but other than that it is so much nicer than the original (which you can also get) that I couldn't justify getting the vanilla version.

Regardless I'd suggest Final Fantasy Tactics for the vita, it's just such a nice game to have in your pocket.

Having just completed it I can recommend Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc.

Its a great murder mystery Visual Novel with some cool logic/light gun/rhythm game based debate gameplay.
For me I wish I had set the action difficulty to low and the logic difficulty to the highest because while I found myself overwhelmed with the action portions I loved trying to piece the cases together and but the action got in the way, at least for me.

And for the action sequences you literally using facts as ammo have to shoot contradiction in arguments avoiding stray comments and making sure you are countering the right phrases with the right facts. And in some cases play a rhythm game to force a character to listen to an argument.

When I was playing through it I was clocking long sessions because that game can really draw you in because it has a really good story to it.

Don't Starve is on the Vita, am I correct?

My mistake, it's not out yet, but coming.

There's also LocoRoco and Patapon, if I'm correct. I hear those are interesting rhythm type gaems.

You probably already played through Disgaea3. Otherwise get that. I only played the demo for the conception game but I got a Persona vibe from it. Seemed very good. But who has time :)

Since you don't seem to be beyond playing psp games there is so many I don't know where to start. But Luna is up there. And of course Valkyria Chronicles. 3rd birthday is even worth playing over again. It looks like it was made for Vita and the second analog stick makes it even better to play.

p.s. I see Dokuro mentioned above. Yes, nice game. But it's pretty damn hardcore. Just saying. And this is from someone who will play Prinny all day long. Did I mention the Prinny games for PSP. They look great on Vita too :)

Now here is my question with this; i watched the anime entirely, and I'm worried if I play the game i'll breeze through it because I know the murderer in every situation...should I still play it?

Ohhhh really? I had it on PSP and my nubstick broke so playing it was murder. Is it better? I love the parasite eve games...

Soul Sacrifice Delta takes a bit of getting used to but it is easily my "must own" game of the system (vanilla version is passable, but the extra features and tweaks to this one justified double dipping for me, and I didn't even finish the first one).

Gravity Rush is one that provides a good but not excellent experience, but one I've yet to see anywhere else.

Tearaway is great if you enjoyed Little Big Planet type of stuff.

Dangan Ronpa and Virtue's Last Reward were fun VNs, but VLR really spoils a lot of 999 (you don't need the first one to get the story, but it enhances it, at the same time VLR will completely ruin a lot of the late game mystery of 999).

Conception 2's combat system and other items are fun, but the game is really cringe worthy in its tone, so definite YMMV.

I've been playing Danganronpa. It's pretty good. Imagine Ace Attorney if it was a bit more homicidal and flamboyant at the same time.

Conception 2 has a interesting battle system, but the story and characters are just awful.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva Forte is a cool rhythm game.

Deception 4 has a combo-trap game-thing that's really fun when you actually pull combos off, but is also incredibly frustrating since some characters in the game can screw you over.

I think you've got the major JRPGs already, so I don't have many recommendations there. The Atelier games?

I admit that I haven't seen the anime, but just knowing who the murderer is will only answer one bit of many many questions that are posed throughout the game. I'm assuming you'd also know the murder weapons and motives for the cases as well from the anime though, so it's really hard to say. I would say that some of the fun will have been ruined for you no matter what, but that the evidence collection and the various minigames will still provide a bit of challenge, but to me the main draw of the game is the story, which you will already know.

My recommendation would be to borrow it from a friend or rent it somehow first to make sure you have fun with it before shelling out $40 on it. I highly recommend the game, but I just don't know how much fun it will be for someone who has seen the anime and knows the story ahead of time.

OT: More love for Dokuro here! There were only a few levels that I found really difficult and it took me a while to figure them out, but the game is quite good. For some crazy retro JRPG fun, check out Dragon Fantasy Books 1 and 2. For another puzzler visual novel style game like Danganronpa, check out Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. It makes more sense if you've played the original 999 (9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors) on the DS, but the game can stand on its own and has some really good puzzles.

I would suggest exactly what COMaestro said, rent of borrow it see if you like how it plays since I don't know the differences between the anime and the game so there may be a bit more to the game while keeping the same structure. There is a Demo available so I suggest you try that. If you like it make your decision on whether it is worth a purchase or not since you already got the story from the Anime, but use the fact that you liked it to consider the sequel. Though that will not help you for your cruise situation as that released in September if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately no, there's only two games at the moment, though one of them is Muramasa. There used to be a wider selection, but you still only ever had access to about 6 games, with Gravity Rush, Uncharted (infamous for it's gimmicky use of the Vita's touchscreen), Sly Cooper, Pixeljunk Shooter, and Wipeout usually being omnipresent in the lineup.

Yes, if they add trophies 3rd birthday would be a top 5 Vita game. No other changes required.

Well, I would recommend Persona 2 if you don't already have it (I'd recommend 3 and 4, but you have those). If you've played 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors, then I definitely recommend Virtues Last Reward
