I've been playing quite a bit of DOTA 2 recently. I have about a 100 games under my belt. 50-50 or very close to 50-50 win/loss ratio.

I am not the worst player in the world, but I am far from good. e.g. I am only as good as my enemies are unskilled. In all honesty I'd have to say I'm a very poor player.

my knowledge of mechanics is really quite pathetic.
my ability to tell when to help my teammates (as a carry) and when to just ignore them and keep farming is inadequate.
My ability to play support is grossly inadequate.

The list of heroes I can play competently is far too small and includes too many I only excel with as pugstompers.

I need to play more, and I could really use someone who could give me feedback and advice on my noobish mistakes.

I read a great deal about the various heroes on playdota.com, I watch professional games, and I'm a big fan of purge plays X hero on youtube. It's not enough. I have to play more. experience is priceless.

Friend me on steam? pretty please?

my steam handle atm is Narilera, I'll PM you the email linked to the account if you reply/PM me.

I am padawan: You are Master Yoda!
Teach me to play!

If you played LoL I could tell you about that, since I would say I'm fairly good. But don't know DoTA very well (only bits I've picked up from being told, and around the internet bits). I would say that very common mistakes that new players make, in LoL at least, are: charging in for kills without weighing up the odds of surviving (and actually killing anyone); not warding; being unaware of the map and what other people are doing; not using hot-keys (has to be said...); not adapting their build to opponents/their team.

I'm an average Dota player, but I'll be happy to help anyone new. I pay attention to competitive games and I know quite a bit of the deeper mechanics.

This guide should help you: http://www.playdota.com/guides/welcome-to-dota-you-suck

What the hell is DOTA?
DOTA
Defense of the Ancients.
Originally a Warcraft III mod, DOTA has spawned it's own genre, called Multiplayer Online Battle Arena or MOBA.
examples of this are LoL (league of legends), HoN (heroes of Newearth), DOTA 2, and realm of the titans.

Thank the lord I never encountered this type of hyperbolic tripe when I first started playing LoL. I mean:

"You suck, and you are going to be constantly reminded of this fact for about 6-9 months (if you learn). If you read this guide and use your brain and be actively aware of how bad you suck, you can easily shave 3-6 months off of your complete noob status."

... I so want to play! But honestly, the arrogance of assuming that everyone will be terrible (frankly, I'm pretty sure someone familiar with the genre would not suck for 6-9 months of play), that everyone will point you out as being bad etc. I'll just stick to LoL I think.
