please educate me

ok so for a while i have been aware of and know a little (very little) about this whole IP protect bill moving through congress. i know that if it passes the internet is gonna be royally screwed but here is where im confused. how likely is it that it will be passed? how in danger are we the users of the internet really. not posting this to say we shouldn't support opposing this but how likely realistically is it that it could be passed?

Basically it means that any company may shut down any website having any copyrighted material on it. This can be unofficial screenshots, gameplay reviews, reviews with a picture on it and so on.

It would put alot of people out of work if the worst case scenario is reached.
Though I doubt it would pass. "Freedom of speech" and such things like "Censorship" are not something the judge will put a ban on >.>

Havn't got a clue. If I had to pass a judgement based on my legal knowledge: This won't pass without the USA legal system becoming the biggest hypocritical thing in society.

i have seen this. i understand what it will do what i want to know is how likely is it that it will get passed? are we in danger or are we fighting a winning battle?

Not very, it has very little political support, in fact the only reason it's still around is do to the money being throw at it by the large companies that would benefit from this bill, if not for them it would of never even made it to the senate.
