Well, some douche has been trying to hack my email account. I was just chatting away on MSN and tried to go onto my email, and my password had been changed. After that, all it came up with was an error screen who's reference was fake.

An error occurred while processing your request.
Reference #97.4ec36596.1301396898.1ff31022

That's all I got.
Somehow though I managed to get back onto my account and I quickly changed my password many times. The thing is though I'm sure he's still around. Sometimes if I sign into MSN with that email it will say I'm signed into two places, when I'm not on any Hotmail website, and my in the lower right hand corner of the screen (next to the clock) it always shows a little symbol that Java is running, even though I'm not using Java AT ALL.

I've changed all my passwords on every website, and nothing seems to be too bad. I'm not locked out of anything anymore, but what can I do? I'm sure he's still around.

What steps can I take to kick him out? If the abysmal technological jargon didn't already tell you, I'm not exactly an IT expert.

Please guys, help :(

Quickly! [a href="http://www.malwarebytes.org/"]Search for malware![/a]

I can't offer much more help than that.

I just need your username, email, previous password, and the answer to your secret security question...I kidd, no really, do not post them.

I would vote team malware. It is not hard to infect other computers through MSN messenger, especially if you click on a link that someone (or something) has put in chat.

Seems everyone has this pretty well covered, but just to make sure...

Check for malware, spyware, viruses, and keyloggers. Most of this stuff is caught by particular problems that you are likely already familiar with. You have changed all your passwords and stuff, which is good. Also, I would recommend making sure the passwords are not just words, and have some variety to them.

Otherwise, thats about all you can do. Good luck.

Just a word of advice, you may want to search for rootkits. The best application i've found for this is TDSSKiller by Kapersky. It managed to remove the alureon trojan from my kernal a while back.

I'd say its's most likely a virus (spyware, malware, etc included i'm just lazy), i doubt it's a hacker, they'd be after your bank details rather than your msn mate (that or just out to destroy your files for fun/revenge, unless you have highly valuable information/work on there). Best running a very detailed virus scan (scanning for things such as rootkits, and PUP's, Potentially Unwanted Programs).
