I am having HUGE computer problems (they just started now) and I REALLY need help to see if I can fix this or I might have to reformat my computer (I have no way to make backup files but I have nothing too important though I do lack a reformat disc so I would have to send it in for repairs) basically most of my icons seem to have disappeared and when I try and run them it will ask what I wish to run them with giving me only internet explorer as an option, this seems to only be with things that needed to be downloaded (but some that came with my computer) I think I could just re download them as I am able to connect to the internet but I fear some vital things could also fail to run (I did restart my computer and it is working fine) and I had run a virus scan today with no virus' found and this happened shortly after and now I can't even access AVG.
Please help me if you can I really do not want to reformat my computer if I do not have to and if you need any additional information please tell me.
EDIT: after trying a few things it seems that only my internet shortcut seems to work even though not everything has lost its icon... it is looking really bad...
