The DVD player on my computer doesn't work at all. A few weeks back i was watching Buffy on my computer and all of a sudden it stopped playing and I think a message might of popped up. Now nothing plays on my DVD player, it just makes some noises as if it's trying to run the DVD (but failing) and then just stops altogether, what can I do to fix this?

This is so annoying, all I want to do is watch movies and whatever else on DVD on my computer.

There's an advice forum that would be perfect for this...

But anywhoo, try downloading the latest drivers for the dvd drive, and make sure your media player is all ship-shape. If that still doesn't work, and if the dvd drive is old, it may be a hardware fault. Possibly try using a lens cleaner Dvd on it, or just bite the bullet and buy a new one. The good news is they're cheap, especially if you buy preowned.

- Turn computer off
- Unplug power cord (just to be sure)
- Remove side cover
- Unplug all cables that are connected to your DVD drive
- Plug power cord
- Start the computer
- Turn your computer off
- Unplug power cord
- Plug all cables back to DVD
- Attach side cover
- Plug power cord
- Turn computer on

It's possible that there will be message about finding new equipment (dvd).

Did that help ?

Time to buy a new DVD player, old chap. They're one of the cheapest parts you can replace. Really better to just bite the bullet on this one.
