Quickly! Run, with all the speed you can muster to the nearest game-retalier, and buy yourself a shiny new controller!

odd, I had this problem for a while now. and even odder, it suddenly started working again like nothing happened... TODAY

I thought the battery pack was screwed (based on the fact that inserting another battery pack made it work just fine... also I'm assuming you use a battery pack?) and since I was to lazy to get it repaired I just did with it.

The only thing that changed since yesterday was me just briefly removing the battery pack to see if it was leaking or something like that and just inserted it back in.

Try that. if it doesn't work then go to your local gamer shop repair guy that's all I can advise you really...

Good luck!

Plug? As in original Xbox? Your controller's probably worn out by now. It might be time to buy a new gaming console. I don't know what to tell you...

Ya, I think the problem is with the Controller. The plug may be worn out and it may be time to get a new one. Sorry mate.

Fiddle around with the wire perhaps. Perhaps it's come lose, try pushing it into the back of the controller + back of the plugging in bit. If you find it only works in a small position masking tape is your friend.

Edit: I fixed my router with masking tape...

I have this exact same problem. Its the battery and the controller both. You can buy a new batter which is what I did, twice. Just go out and get a separate battery charger, they're $30 I think but it fixed my problem. Peripherals don't last forever.

You're talking about the X-Box 360 right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I play my 360 and my controller will disconnect randomly for no reason, even with full batteries. Considering it did this from day one I think the 360 is just a faulty piece of hardware most of the time.
It only does it with certain games some of the time though, and when it does happen it happens every few seconds making it impossible to play until I restart my 360.
