please help pc video card problem

hi i have recently bought an alienware m17x r3 and i have tried to run the witcher enhanced edition but it says i have not met the minimum requirements but here are my pc specs

Intel® Core? i7 2720QM 2.2GHz (3.3GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)

Operating System:
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit

8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (4DIMMS)

Video Card:
1.5GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M

and when i run dxdiag it doesn't even show the video card and when i went to a website that is specifically made to tell me if i can run a game it says i cant because this is apparently my video card

intel hd graphics family but it doesnt show the nvidia so if anyone could please help me with this problem i would greatly appreciate it i really want to play the witcher i bought it on gog if that's important please get back to me asap if you know whats wrong and if you know how to fix it.

If you are willing to open it, I would reseat the GPU. Otherwise if you are not, try reinstalling the driver.

Really, If you have recently brought it (within warranty) then try contacting support to prevent voiding the warranty and to get the problem solved via professional help.

i figured something new out the pc does see the card and acknowledges that it's installed but i can't seem to be able to use it it's disabled but i don't know how to enable it, anyone know how to enable it?

Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> Right click and enable.

EDIT: Although, unless I'm mistaken, these laptops use nVidia Optimus, meaning the dedicated GPU is disabled when not gaming to save power.

Meaning that it will kick in when you actually start the game.

And yeah, a 460M will work fine.

Well your first problem is that you bought an Alienware. But you muct make sure that the actualy GPU is enabled.

Hopefully it will kick in when you start the game. The Optimus software is still far from perfect, and occasionally won't turn the GPU on, or off, when it's supposed to.
